Bill Barr and the White House plan to collect information on social media users when Trump signs EO

May 28, 2020

By David Badash, The New Civil Rights Movement

A draft of President Donald Trump’s social media executive order shows it would create disturbing structures that could allow the President of the United States to personally target social media companies he feels are taking action against his supporters, enable his supporters to report that action directly to the White House, and empower the Attorney General of the United States to collect publicly available “watch-lists” of social media users that monitor not only their online activities but their offline activities as well.

The draft is not final, but both the speed with which it will be signed and reports show it likely has not gone through interagency review, as CNN’s Brian Fung, who calls it “hastily conceived,” notes.

Reuters has confirmed a draft of the executive order, which President Trump has promised he will sign today. They report it “requires the Attorney General to establish a working group including state attorneys general that will examine the enforcement of state laws that prohibit online platforms from engaging in unfair and deceptive acts.”

The order directs the White House Office of Digital Strategy to turn back on the White House Tech Bias Reporting Tool, which the Trump administration created in 2019. It is currently dormant. The tool would be used to collect complaints of what social media users feel is online censorship by tech companies. Those complaints would be submitted by the White House to the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

Here it comes, Der Fuhrer and his toadies are shitting on the First Amendment even more. If we don't get rid of them in November, nothing will stop them from making the US a dictatorship. Scary as hell.

On edit: Jack Dorsey brought this on himself. If he had reined in that asshole years ago by enforcing his own TOS then this clusterfuck wouldn't be happening.

The math is simple - every non-vote for trump is equivalent to a vote for Biden.

IMO, he already is one. There will not be a hugely defining moment when people can look horrified and point their fingers. He has defied our laws, entrenched those sycophants willing to do his bidding, and he threatens our institutions on a daily basis.

He has private deals with other tyrants, installed his family in the government for succession, and associates himself with countries also dealing with tyrants. He walks like a dictator, talks like a dictator, and IS a dictator. He just isn't ready to reveal himself 100% yet.

We are about to get schooled on dictators and what is possible in the good ole USA.

I don't believe in shooting and killing (or kneeling on someone's neck until dead,) but it may not be possible to retrieve the country without violence. But, not the "let's riot and get some free goods!" type of crap. We need to be cool and not do that. But, tell me how to dislodge a dictator?

Voting is our first Plan A attempt to get him to go away. But, he is advertising and setting up to deny the voting results, and involve the SC, which he has stacked in his favor. Our Plan B has to be something more clever than Civil War 2.

Maybe we should start with advertisements (Plan A) everywhere to inform everyone about the necessity of voting him out. Then, Plan B can be the actual vote. Then, maybe Plan C, a country shutdown of services, civil disobedience, etc. Plan D...well, you know what that would likely be.

Plan E would probably mean leaving the country...White, Christian males would be happy until they discover the country can't run without the rest of us. Then, maybe they will get rid of their hero. Their way...

It sure tells us a lot when the very first time Twitter fact checks him that he gets huffy with "I am the President" and moves to restrict us from holding him responsible. He needs Twitter to disseminate his lies.
