MAIL-IN VOTING WILL LEAD TO MASSIVE FRAUD AND ABUSE. IT WILL ALSO LEAD TO THE END OF OUR GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS TRAGEDY BEFALL OUR NATION. BIG MAIL-IN VICTORY IN TEXAS COURT TODAY. CONGRATS!!!

(6,354 posts)2. That's a carefully crafted rant that likely meets twitter criteria.
The only fact is that the Texas courts made a decision today...probably true. What it means and the future it predicts is all opinion.
I suspect this is the other side of the exec order coin...yeah hell scream and bully but the social media team is going to figure out phrasing that makes it more difficult for twitter to label the tweets with a fact check.

(6,354 posts)6. I agree with your point...and "technically" this isn't a lie...it's a bullshit projection.
"MAIL-IN VOTING WILL LEAD TO MASSIVE FRAUD AND ABUSE"
This is the needle they're threading. There is no data to support this conclusion but it's not a lie, it's an unfunded conclusion...and this is what's going to make it really tough for twitter and friends. This is different from saying "mail-in voting has led to massive fraud and abuse". There is no data that supports the conclusion that is HAS led to fraud...but we can't make any conclusions about the future - that's purely political opinion. And I suspect that twitter and rest are going to have a real problem censor or annotating a tweet about the future.
Said another way...If I said "the Reds have been the best baseball team over the past 5 years" that's factually incorrect and provably wrong. If I said "the Reds are going to be the best baseball team over the next 5 years", you might think that there's no supporting data for that opinion (because there's no such thing as facts about the future - except maybe sunrise and sunset).
So you I have an opinion and you have an opinion...how does a third party take sides without putting their thumb on the scale ?
I stand by my initial comments...Pascale and company are very smart, manipulative people and they will figure out a phrasing (if they haven't already) that will neuter Twitter's policies. The "implied' lies will continue.
And yes - I agree with you 100% that this is a bullchit conclusion, that mail-in will be massive fraud, but that's my interpretation of the data (and yours) but there are other opinions and ya can't regulate opinions. IMHO.

(171,057 posts)3. Fun fact...
#FunFact:
Trump just signed his name on millions of $1200 checks & sent them via U.S. MAIL without a single concern about fraud.
