Many Asian cultures value community, the group, the whole, over individual life. Sacrifice for the good of the whole.
It's very interesting to study how this plays out in different countries. Many in Asia have a hard time understanding our fanaticism about individualism and individual rights, just as we might struggle to understand their attitudes.
