Omar Jimenez one of CNN correspondenst was covering the Minneapolis, Minnesota riots about 5:00 this morning. Mr. Jimenez and his crew showed their press credentials right before the arrest. He has been released.
During a live broadcast Friday, Jimenez and his crew were arrested on air by Minnesota State Patrol after identifying themselves and showing their press credentials.
In a re-played clip, the arrest was shown on camera.
"We are live on the air at the moment. This is the four of us, we are one team. Just put us back where you want us, just let us know. Wherever you want us, just let us know," Jimenez tells a row of police officers before an officer comes behind him with handcuffs. Do you mind telling me why Im under arrest, sir?"
Jimenez and his crew, who were covering the protests that were prompted by the death of George Floyd, were later released and spoke about the experience.

CNN's Josh Campbell, who also was in the area but not standing with the on-air crew, said he, too, was approached by police, but was allowed to remain.
"I identified myself ... they said, 'OK, you're permitted to be in the area,'" recounted Campbell, who is white. "I was treated much differently than (Jimenez) was."
Jimenez is black and Latino. Kirkos is white, and Mendez is Hispanic."

(16,169 posts)Segment starts with the black-hoodie-short-shorts person getting arrested but you can see what appears to be the same black-hoodie-short-shorts person standing alone Behind the cops a few minutes later as they are arresting the CNN reporter.
Weird.
At 5:09, being arrested?
At 5:11, standing alone behind cops on left?
