(11,726 posts)A Marshall is a law enforcement officer. Martial Law is when the military takes over enforcement of the laws in a civilian center.
More likely, the local and State governments will use the National Guard to get things under control but not turn full control over to the military.

You are correct. The Marshals are a particular Law Enforcement branch of the federal government.
I guess if you are going to be a pedant, you need to be accurate.

(10,008 posts)Changing current Trump doctrine of "open up or else" and encouraging Trump loyalists to storm capitol buildings with weapons to Martial Law might not go so smoothly. Also Trump needs the social unrest to continue so he can blame minorities and Democrats.
Now if Trump gets a second term, it becomes more likely.

It was sort of funny to see the subject of the post and then a bunch of replies criticizing him.

(11,726 posts)I think that people have specific pet peeves that motivate them to post.
My wife gets annoyed with me because I try to be as accurate as possible with my descriptors and I can certainly be annoying with it.
We read The Giver with our kids and one of the phrases used by characters in the book is "Precision of Language" We say it mostly as a joke now, but like I said, some people, when they see the incorrect words or phrases being used, it just demands an answer.
No offense intended in my responses and no offense taken. I always say that if you are going to critique others, you better be able to take critique in return.
