Im a white male who grew up the minority in my neighborhood.

I was born in St Paul minnesota. yup, where all this shit started. and it pains me to see it there.

I left when i was 7 or so. family drove to silicon valley, california. Dad got a job with Hewlett Packard.

This was in the early 1970s. Hippies everywhere. VWs.

Most of the families on my block were hispanic or asian, some Filipino a couple black families.

My first best friend i can remember his family was chinese and they played that game with all the white blocks? know what i mean?

My 2nd and third best friends i met at the same time were latino and black.

My schools were mostly majority minority lol, us whites were the ones few and few between.

my friends and i got HEAVY into hip hop, breakdancing, scratching, graffiti. me a skinny tall white half swedish half irish dude hanging out with every other minority you can think of celebrating black culture. none of us saw race and it was beautiful.

thats america to me. and im so glad i grew up that way because i think it helps me to see what a fucking raw deal all my old friends get in this country compared to me.

White people really suck. a lot of them. as one of them I think I am allowed to say that.

It pains me to see that we still havent moved an INCH since rodney king.

maybe finally we can.

Every white person should have to live in an area where they are a minority for 5-10 years of their life.

You gain a better perspective from it.

I wish I'd had that experience.

Though I did live in Hong Kong for 3 years growing up. I was DEFINITELY a minority there. And I think it shaped my outlook quite a bit.

but grew up in southwest Texas...predominately hispanic but "ruled" by whites...next door neighbor was one of the white 'prominent"..hated Jews in general but despised Jews next door with a devoted passion...my father survived Auschwitz, do you think he cared?..my perfect grandchildren are Jewish/Hispanic and my granddaughter is crazy about an Asian American law student...this is America...
