Anyone here remember Washington, DC on April 24th, 1971?

Crowd estimates ranged from 200,000 to 500,000. I was there somewhere in the madness, mostly around the Washington Monument where we had our food and ganja stashed. I think the day before was when John Kerry and other vets against the war threw away all their medals. Peter, Paul, and Mary along with many other celebrities entertained us that Sat/Sun. It was quite a demonstration that had Nixon fuming. When the place didn't fully clear out a few days later he sent in his goons to bust heads and arrest people.

Took the train to DC. Marched with several DU’ers against the War in Iraq.

Wasn’t sure they would step up. Now, I know they will.

They must fear us, especially the rich, or none of this changes.

My first child was only two months old and his father received his "Greetings" letter in the mail from Uncle Sam and was to report for basic training the third week of May. I had just quit my job to have my baby and now I had to find a full time job and someone to watch my child. My heart was with the marchers though and I watched footage of it on TV.

These were some interesting times.
