In a general sense, this is all of the MAGA crowd: a full-grown man breaches the barrier between his weird sour little-kidland and Reality, a moment in which his fear-totems utterly fail him and his life as he knows it is over.
He's probably committed small acts of secret violence all his life, and caused pain to everyone who knows him -- except for the little gang of other man-kids who bond with him over the standard pre-hominid things that are all rooted in tightly repressed sexual urges.
So he doesn't think this through at all. He feels that the right thing to do is to take up arms and brandish them at his weird vision of who these protesters are -- he doesn't see people, he sees orcs.
But -- he's so goddamed incompetent, so absolutely useless, so horribly pathetic in the press of the moment -- just as all of his MAGA brothers are. This man has no good ideas. This man would be the first to die in actual combat. This man is a child playing at war, just as they all are.
He never imagined they would swarm him like that. He had intended -- what? -- to hold a thousand angry people hostage with a bow?
They think they want the Boogaloo. They don't want the Boogaloo. They are the sad little men-boys who can not, dare not, think things through. If they actually just for a moment succeeded in sparking some sort of 'race war' they'll be swept away by the same sort of reality wave that just changed Clueless Bow Boy's life. They will not survive. This sort of stuff might work for awhile out in the boondocks but not for long. Why?
Because we prop them up and save their lives everyday. They're so entitled and spoiled that as GROWN MEN they spend all their time spinning dark dominance fantasies and dreaming of tearing down the very civilization that keeps them alive. They are the Incompetent. They are the Weight We Carry. Left to themselves, they starve. Left by themselves, they collapse.
They live in the lie because the truth is unbearable. But when they get out of the car and point a weapon at people, truth's coming out.
