2. I know the feeling.
I finally found some more too. No more bamboo, two ply that seems thinner than one ply and falls apart. I know some off brands I hate now. The bamboo one? I have had bamboo socks before and they were ok, but the bamboo toilet paper? I'd be better off with my magazines and/or catalogs than some of that stuff I ended up trying. I still have my Trump signed letter about the stimulus as a backup too. It is officially earmarked for that day. We may have a second wave. So, it might end up getting used and I might get a bidet after all. But, for now, I am so happy I found some TP.

4. I was very ticked off at Costco last week. We went to Costco and they
had a bazillion packages of toilet paper and I picked up two packages along with two packages of paper towels. We finish our shopping and get to the check out they took one package of toilet paper and one package of paper towels away, saying there is a one package per customer limit.

They’ve been limiting it for months to try to prevent hoarding. Not so fun for folks that have to travel far.

10. Wear a hat and shirt.
Take off the hat and shirt and put on another shirt and a different color mask. If there are 2 of you you can then get 4 packages. I have gone in and bought my one package, gone to my car, and then gone back in. They told me only one package to a customer. I told them I am only buying one. They said I had bought one earlier. I said the sign said one to a customer, period. It did not say one to a customer per day. We are not hoarding but keeping a 2 month supply of everything. Our stores have plenty of toilet paper but are short on paper towels and bleach.

14. Amazon
I finally gave in and ordered some TP from Amazon. You have to be very careful and make sure Amazon is selling and shipping it to you. I had ordered some before, and it turned out it was coming from China. It still hasn't arrived. I think it's late enough that I can get a refund.
But I digress... Amazon was selling its own TP. A package of 30 rolls. It took about 10 days to arrive, but it was a decent price. It was perfect. I gave some to my neighbors to pay them back for what they'd given me. Yesterday, I went to order some more, and they'd discontinued it. But they're now selling a shipment of 80 rolls. 8-0. It'll arrive on Sunday. I don't know where I'm going to put it all. So, if you can stand dealing with Amazon, you can get it there. Just look carefully to make sure they're selling it, not some third party. |

In case this all happens again, I will give it a try. Some of the off brands I got during the shortage left me feeling raw about off brand TP.

48. I guess you can put an 80 roll package of toilet paper in an
unused corner somewhere in your house. It would be the discussion item if sight of it is caught during one of your ZOOM or FACETIME sessions.
I have bought a 24 roll package before, and even that filled up a section if a bathroom cabinet. I can't imagine 80 rolls. |

52. Come to think of it, if I had that many rolls of TP, I would get some plastic sheeting
and attempt to give it an extra layer of protection from moisture or anything else that might get to it. With how I am right now, though, mentally, I might make a shrine of it.
I did already have one 12 pack of Cottonelle, early on, when the hoarding started and it became impossible to find brand names any more. I have been using that very sparingly in between trying to get through the bamboo TP I was able to find. The bamboo TP makes the roughest of leaves look like a reasonable alternative worth the effort to try. I did discover that I like Charmin, when I found the tiniest little 4 pack of Charmin at a convenience store. I haven't been able to get any of that since. If it's back in stock and I ever get through this bamboo TP, I'm going to try Charmin again if I can find it next time. Otherwise, Cottonelle or Angel Soft would be a godsend. I even found myself cussing at people on Ebay for selling single rolls of Scott, opened, for $10 plus $10 shipping. I used to hate Scott TP. Anyone notice themselves looking at multiple rolls of TP like shrines that you want to protect? I'm wondering if I am the only one with some kind of leftover mental thing going on. I can't be the only one, right? I hope not. I hope it is not only me. I hope I get through it soon. I hope it becomes available again and I am able to get through it. I have had that one 12 pack pack of Cottonelle double boxed but with the box flaps open in such I way that I can see it. It is sitting right in the center of my kitchen so I can see it every time I walk through. I am down to about 5 rolls of it now. I have taken a roll at the time from it instead of stacking them all on the back of the toilet tank like I used to. Now is no time for a mishap that might send it tumbling into the bowl. I may never do that again, to store the rest of a multi-pack of TP. Gold in plain old dirt was literally easier to find these last few months. It's a new hobby. It's like I don't want anything to happen to the TP. I find myself protective of it. It is now like a treasured member of the family. I keep picturing my living room remodeled with a bronze sculpture of 3 or 4 rolls of TP sitting on a coffee table. That would have been such a silly idea before Covid-19. Now? I'm tempted to try to make one when I remodel my living room. Who knew TP would become so important so fast? I joked about starting a religion based on TP and having a building shaped like a roll of it, but now I'm almost serious and wondering if there are government grants available. |

55. Cottonelle is what I was using. I managed to get a 12 pack just as the hoarding
craze started. I haven't been able to find any since. I saw some Northern, but passed on it.
I tried bamboo TP before, didn't form an opinion one way or the other. It was harder to break off from the roll, but I figured that redesign of the perforated break lines would solve that problem. Well I did form one opinion on bamboo TP, it was a lot better for me than TP made from recycled paper, that literally burned my hiney after a week of using it, something in the recycle process just didn't mesh with that part of my body. I did manage to score a gallon of Clorox bleach today. The off label bleach that I had to buy was horrible for bleaching whites, look like maybe something with additional surfactants added to the bleach, the name brand seemed to have better composition. I didn't really think much about bleach given that sodium hyper-chlorite is somewhat of a surfactant. People had claimed to me that different bleach brands mattered, I honestly didn't believe that until I spent two months watching my usually brilliant white clothing become duller and duller with each wash. So I have plenty of bleach to sanitize surfaces, I just won't use my normal bleach, that is only for laundry after I finally managed to get my hands on a gallon. |

Hand sanitizer, too. Expensive as hell. They can keep 'em. I'm going to just stick to what I've been doing all along: Washing my hands with soap and water, and using a rag and spray cleaner for surfaces. I just wash the rags for reuse, and I'm not sending single-use wipes to the landfill to sit there for all eternity.

This week the local store was boarded up along with an Autozone across the street in anticipation of damage from protesters. They were the only two businesses in the area that elected to board up their store fronts and frankly looked pretty damn stupid to me. posted on the building too. I had quit shopping there after I went one time, they were literally out of everything...I mean it, everything. Schnuck's on the other hand has had everything I've needed. We did like the Aldi nearby (Florissant) for some things such as fresh fruits, veggies and their price on milk & eggs, but if they are boarded up they can keep'em, the Cross Keys Schnucks is fine with the Wife, I prefer the old Florissant Schnucks store as it is never near as busy and I prefer the old style arrangement of departments and aisles.
