I am on SSI. I am constantly hounded by RW assholes because of it.
I've been called a leach, a parasite. I've had people tell my that "Asperger's Syndrome does not exist and is an excuse to give welfare to lazy nerds". This is why I fear that the video may not hurt Romney as much as we would think. These assholes are everywhere and they vote.

1. GOTV
I think it could help in GOTV efforts. It really solidifies what rMoney is all about.

2. It's amazing how
even coworkers will turn negative on workers whom end up on SSI,as a result of a illness or accident. It's not only the 1%ers,it's the Joe lunchbox crowd that don't have a clue. To much Faux and not enough of reading the nets. Facts scare the sh*t out of this crowd.

3. This, sadly, is true. I even know of a few that are on SSI and are rabid right wingers.
In fact, most union members I know are as well. It's the "it's ok if *I* do it, but not you" meme. They won't admit it, but they live it everyday.
It's why we have to fight them. |

4. people are cruel
and it sounds as if right wing jerks never grow up. what really pisses me off is how often they simultaneously refer to themselves as christian. just a bunch of assholes.
i hope you are making progress with your syndrome. |

5. It's looking like I'm a "fellow traveler" on Aspie Street
Fuck 'em. Thery're losers, not "has beens", but never were. IIRC, you'r not a NASCAR fan - but in motorsports, Asperger's might better be known as "Engine Builders Brain".
Like in the movie classic "Freaks" - motorsports gave me a hug and a warm donut, sometime before 1st grade, and whispered in my ear "One of us!" For the losin' players taht diss you, here's a comeback - "Folks like me do a lot for the world, and we are such poor liars that grubbing up money is problematic at best. My "Good Citizen Subsidy" is an investment for society. How much a month are you payin' to be an asshole? |

6. Romney could kick a baby for a field goal and still get 30% of the vote. The GOP base are not voting
"for" R-money, they're just voting against "the Blacks" or "the gays" or "the liberals". Its not about logic, its about abject hate and a general contempt for humanity. Which Romney will give them. |

7. The 30%, I've been thinking about them for a while...
People need to start formulating a strategy against them.

9. Not really.
We don't need 100% of the electorate to win. And losing over and over again will cause that 30% to wither away. It's just gonna take a while.

8. I believe you have a good reason to think this.
Because of the 47% who won't vote for him, he has to go after the votes that will and that vote is the one bigoted against that 47%. So all these dumb things we think he is saying is playing to his base and pushing their buttons. He probably knows the corruption in our election system will also not only deliver votes to him but suppress votes that would have been against him, again from that 47%. This guy lives by the spreadsheet with the graphs and polling numbers telling him how he is going to win. We can't take this tactic lightly.

10. Dependent Romney wants to use our American military in the middle east
yet the leech never served and is totally dependent on it to protect his financial interests. Once again why is this rich person allowing himself to be a victim. Why doesn't he and his 5 sons make their own military and protect their own $ themselves? It's time for Mitt to stop leeching off of us, please.

12. Sorry to hear that, Odin.
I think to a lot of people, if they can't SEE the disability--such as someone in a wheelchair--then it doesn't exist. I know when I had RSI real bad some years ago, even the fucking doctors seemed to think that since they couldn't see it, I was faking. ![]() |

15. No shit. Try having untreated/undertreated hypothyroidism.
My friends' nickname for me is "zombie chick".
on edit: Not that that's an SSI thing, just that I understand the "but you look normal" BS. Yeah. I look normal. That's why my hair is crunchy and my hands bleed in the wintertime. ![]() |

13. Sadly likely. On the other hand, a fair number of people who have usually enjoyed a stable
lifestyle have lost their jobs, their insurance, and sometimes their housing. If ever there were a time when a broader population is likely to have even a dim grasp of what it's like to need assistance, I would think that it's now.

14. Same thing with my husband. He has Meniere's disease. They've
never heard of it, can't see it, so he's a fake. I think they are just jealous and wish they could get some of that "free" money!

16. yep...
MY B-i-L has been on disability for decades because he injured his back as a auto mechanic. He's had a few back surgeries, but he also does a lot of things he should NOT be doing, like work on the house, his church, and riding a quad... but he's Republican and so it's alright for him i suppose.
I have been considering disability recently because I have a degenerative auto-immune disease that affects my joints. I have major physical limitations and have a compromised immunity (so sick a lot) and have not been able to hold a job steady for the past 7 years or so, and welfare is not livable. I am already getting gruff from my parents and sister that I need to just 'buck up' and that i wouldn't want being DISABLED on my 'record'...but being on welfare and struggling is okay? either way it sucks and the double standards are plentiful... |
