District officials say the closings would save the district nearly $11.5 million. At their next schools, thousands of students would have to make new friends and meet new teachers who may not understand their needs.
But the transition becomes a greater challenge for the scores of homeless students who attend Arlington Park and City Park Elementary School, another campus targeted for closure.
Those students live in hotels, cars, shelters or on a friends couch. Their only meals may be the free lunches the schools provide. They spend their time after school in tutoring programs designed for the homeless to keep them from falling behind.
And often simple tasks for parents, such as picking up an ill child at school, become impossible because some families lack cars.
It will put an additional hardship on our parents in a huge way, said the Rev. Bob Sweeney, who runs the Dallas LIFE shelter south of downtown, home to about 20 City Park students
...just another way we "support the children"

When I lived there in the 80s, they were closing off parks so the homeless couldn't sit on the benches. Texas has become such an even greater cesspool since KKKarl took it away from the Democrats in the 90s.
