PHOENIX Three school teachers in the small eastern Arizona community of Winkelman tested positive for the coronavirus last month and one of them died, according to a Phoenix television station.

She notified me that they wanted to intubate her and put her on a ventilator, Jesse Byrd said of his wife. That was the last time I was allowed to speak with her.
Byrd said he wasnt allowed to be at his wifes side when she died June 26 after being hospitalized for almost two weeks.

(28,394 posts)Read or heard that 25% of teachers are immuno-compromised. Its not safe for the adults either.
Thinking back to when I was working, I remember teachers and staff with all manner of co-morbidity including cancer. Plus we had kids with various conditions including cancer, diabetes, asthma, you-name-it. We had lots of special needs students.
This is madness.

(44,973 posts)Most children/teenagers do seem to have milder symptoms. But older teachers with pre-existing conditions will be at great risk. Special needs students with pre-existing conditions will also be at great risk.
