Melania getting a lot of praise from reporters. For what?

melania’s sole accomplishment as first lady seems to have been convincing a bunch of reporters they work in her pr department

@KT_So_It_Goes I personally feel pretty lousy for all the female reporters who seem to have this bizarre i-see-myself-in-you empathy for melania, because that shit is not normal or healthy

@KT_So_Goes I’m sorry for whatever happened to you that you can find some shared experience with her because that shared experience is undoubtedly awful

am I saying their industry is teeming with horrible power-drunk dudes who remind them of donald trump and control their career path and if you don’t play ball that’s it for you we’ll just find another one? maybe. maybe.

when he dry reads material he clearly hasn’t reviewed. He reads it with no break when the subject changes.

I think the staging must have wowed the press wither that or she gets a pity party. She is still a racist brother.

American celebrations of our "Americanness".

This year, with so many troubles and the conventions changing so radically, the press is looking for something uplifting to say about both parties. Just because it would be good to say something uplifting. Anything.

Last week was easy. Lots of good stuff there-- everyone was first class and we wanted to like all of them anyway. Biden was in top form and the Obamas always bring out the best in us.

This week not so easy. Much to make fun of, but little to celebrate. Those soulless ink-stained wretches knew perfectly well that Pam Bondi was lying through her teeth and Jr's girlfriend was sharing his meth. Most of them were probably sickened by the pardon and the new citizens stunts, to say nothing of Pompeo, and the low-rent guests. So Melania's being "not so bad" is the best they can find, and they jump on it.

They're really not too sure what to make of Tiffany. I still think she's the best of the lot but could go either way. They probably think the same, and they're so used to the kid gloves on her they don't talk about her at all.

First his intro was “...you know me from TV and radio” in a Chuck Woolery or I play a doctor on TV way.

Then he completely rewrites history that they rebuilt the economy. Like from scratch. Night one had some references to the pre-Trump years like it was the Great Depression. Darkness and hunger everywhere. Thinking about it today - some of this looks like the propaganda film about the revolution in “The Hunger Games”.

Tiffany - who knows. It seems that she’s been on the outs for a while. Maybe there some payoff or threat of being completely cut out if she doesn’t join in.

The Trump/Republican cult isn't the only one in Washington.

There's also the major media's cultish self image "must appear objective/above the fray."

This is what has them bending over backwards to avoid accusations of "liberal bias" (a futile quest), and of using the lazy cynicism of "both sides are to blame", as if they were sportscasters who thought the most important thing to say during a game is "both teams need to cover ground to score" when the ball is in the 5-yard line.

she would say so with actions or at the very least not stand there supporting her husband's destruction. I'm sure she doesn't care, read the prepared speech and hopped the next taxpayer flight to New York.

Melania not plagiarizing a speech with a deer in headlights look is a laughable standard for success.

does not mean they believe it. Someone wrote her speech, she practiced it, then recited it. There was no warmth, no passion, no understanding of the words she was reading. Stop falling for their hideous acting. Grifters know how to sell a product. Tonight Ivanka will prance on stage, whisper a few words, and the press will rave. What fools we are.
