2. So, He Shot Him IN THE BACK?

A cowardly excuse from a pathetic homicidal coward.
A guy with a knife poses minimal risk when his back is to the "threatened" person.
Besides, step back 2 feet. Unless the guy is 7' tall, that knife poses zero threat.
This guy is too chicken and too jumpy to be a cop.
Even if he isn't a racist (big if), he's not got the temperament for police work.
Too cowardly.

the Charleena Lyles shooting in Seattle, about a quarter mile from my house, was one. An unstable African American woman in her apartment, with her children there, 2 cops shot her point blank because she wouldn't drop the knife. she weighed about 110. their taser and clubs? left in the car.

Another is the infamous "woodcarver" shooting in Seattle in 2010. John T. Williams was a native American who sold wood carvings on the street. he was stumbling/shuffling across a downtown street, cop asks him what's in his hand. It's his carving knife, he shows it to the cop, the cop shoots him dead.

They COULD be Ninjas, and they can't take that risk. It's a deadly weapon; they consider it an equivalent threat to a gun.

That's why I think we start emphasizing "cowardice" in these shootings.
There's a reason the saying goes "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight!"
A knife is a rotten justification for shooting someone, and especially cowardly if the "dangerous" person has their back to the shooter.
It's evidence that too many cops are skittish cowards.

but the "lack of danger" you are assuming is incorrect. It takes a human being less than one second to close ten feet of distance between them and another person. That's why a knife is treated that way. Again, I am not saying the officer was right in this situation because his back was turned, but an individual can kill you with a knife "as half as fast" as they can shoot you with a gun.

That's Ok. We're not going to agree on every detail.
But, I don't concur that a knife threat is comparable to a firearm threat. At all.
And, the "back to the officer" makes it an order of magnitude worse.

else he'd have been seen as a threat and gotten seven or eight slugs in the back at point bank range.

What’d the cop do? Wake up in the morning and tell his wife over the eggs and bacon: “Well honey, I’m off to shoot me a random black man under color of my badge and uniform”? Maybe adding, “I get extra points if his young children have to watch.”

I no longer even recognize my country sometimes.

Dashcams, security cameras, phones with cameras. If you do something, pretty good odds there's going to be video or still pictures of it.

OK, looks like girlfriend had a PFA against him thus the attempt to arrest him.

I guess the one plus is that Blake's alive and can tell investigators his side of the story.
