How Occupy Iowa Caucus Won 'Uncommitted' Delegates
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/turnstyle/how-occupy-iowa-caucus-wo_b_1190612.html
Note: in 2008 there were a total of 2,500 Democratic Iowa primary state delegates.
Related: Caucus results for 2008: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_Democratic_caucuses,_2008#Caucus_Results
p.s. So, I'm assuming that 'uncommitted' will have ZERO delegates at the 'Democratic National Convention' in August.

Edited to add
I've found the 2012 numbers that the Iowa Democratic Party has released SO FAR
2012 Total Democratic State Delegates: 1200
So far, with 1652 of the 1774 precincts reported, (93.12% of precincts)
Obama State Delegates = 1094.86
'Other' State Delegates = 17.15

(62,444 posts)1. So... Occupy is now the 1%?
Tx4obama
(36,974 posts)2. In this case perhaps even less than 1%
because not all 'uncommitted' votes would have been due to Occupy.
There are always some 'uncommitted' votes - even before Occupy came into existence.
There's no way of telling how much of the 1% is Occupy and how much is just 'uncommitted folks'.

(26,117 posts)3. In our precinct
the three uncommitted (out of around 40 caucus-goers) are just regular everyday lefties who would've chosen "uncommitted" this year regardless of Occupy.

(20,634 posts)4. Occupy got 25% of the people to vote uncommitted in Iowa City.
Their strategy was overwhelmingly successful in places where Occupiers chose to follow through and fight.
Thanks for sharing the link.

(36,974 posts)5. Perhaps on that 'ONE' county/precinct, but there are 100 counties in Iowa.
There are 1774 precincts in Iowa
and 100 Iowa Counties: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Map_of_Results_of_Iowa_Democratic_Caucuses_2008-2675px.png
Btw, The Iowa Democratic Party does not release vote counts (it releases only the number of delegates to the state convention)
