I think you are wrong. The young adults are largely way more attuned to what’s happening to their future than you give them credit for.

Young people think they're immortal and they'll take chances we old folks won't, since we have one foot in the grave already and don't want that last shove. When you're in your 20s you don't think that way, so you'll take what you've convinced yourself is a small risk in order to have a few drinks and get laid. It's not so much political as hormonal.

I talked to a friend at the very edge of that age group who was a huge Trumper before the pandemic. He finally realized that a so-called "businessman" like Trump is not the right person to lead this country through a crisis. While he was still fighting around the edges, he was very upset with Trump.

Look at Sturgis, look at the schools, look at the bars where people have been infected, look at the Maine wedding, look at the partying college students, look at the increasing numbers (even with Trump finagling the CDC case counts).

Also, what purpose is served by raising this frankly spurious issue? I'm all in favor of debate, but do you suggest that Joe Biden must make bar re-openings part of the D platform? As our grossly overweight Infector-in-Chief famously said, "it is what it is." Either you see the nonsense in this or you don't.

It never occured to them otherwise.

It is part and parcel of the youth feeling invincible. This and the fact they are so impressionable,... the military wants them badly for soldiering needs.

Getting sick and die from a pandemic,... why that could never conceivably ever happen to me.

I just turned 21,.. let's go out and get some drinks. Party on bro.
