On our town's "Positivity" facebook page. Yes, It is all false, but this is the general intelligence level of the people I have to deal with on a daily basis, well, not right now, becasue I avoid all of these no-mask idiots.

Why am I posting it here? Because I'm isolated and have no one to talk to or share my frustration with. Hoping someone here can empathize.

🔺Trump stopped funding the WHO and threatened to cut off money permanently until they can prove they are no longer corruptly influenced by communist China after they lied to our country about human to human transmission of COVID19 in January.

• Increased suicides higher than COVID deaths
• Delayed surgeries and treatments for profound illnesses
• Infringed upon countless important civil liberties
• Placed 300 million Americans on house arrest
Bill Gates has placed himself in such a position of influence by heavily funding all corners to make this lie happen. One mahoosive freaking hoax.
It blows my mind how many people BLINDLY followed and played into this. Please use your beautiful brains God gave you- use critical thinking skills. QUESTION THINGS! Don't react so quickly without understanding some of the facts. What the hell kind of virus have we EVER taken these measures for? Didn't it not add up? Even a little for you?

I’d happily and respectfully drop into your Iowa town Facebook group to comment on the misinformation. Just say what town...

Other than that, I imagine you’re feeling isolated. Do you ever feel you have to accommodate your town’s gullibility (foolishness, ignorance...) in order to be safe?

2. My brother in rural Colorado...

...quoted this crap verbatim to me the other day, and I had to shut him down. Why are Trumpists so gullible? Of course they love seeing this in "print" because it proves their god, the Orange One, and they, had it right all along. "It's a hoax! Masks don't do anything!" Sort of how like how Trump is running against his own presidency yet calling it "America with Biden at the helm". How is it the virus is recognized as a killer internationally, not just here? "The evil "leebrals" who want to defeat Trump who will do anything" This all sounds like Nazi Germany in 1938.

3. Russian propaganda/disinformation.

A guy I used to know left me a phone message about this great documentary about how the covid is no big deal etc. I looked it up. It 's called Plandemic and is full of these lies and was initially promoted by Qanon. And this Qanon craziness is probably being generated from Russia.

Oh, this same guy was on a streetcorner one day handing out flyers about Plandemic and he wears Q-anon shirts.

It must be harder being a liberal in Texas than it is in Iowa.

At least sharing it among people who aren't crazy makes me feel less isolated.

While I am blessed to be a liberal progressive in NYC, and not in a more conservative area in the city (some do exist) I have a long time on line acquaintance who lives in Iowa.

She feels like you - quite isolated! Maybe she has a person or two IRL like her. Mostly she's a tiny blue island in a sea of choppy red agitation.

She and I are on a rock music site of a progressive band that has it's own off topic Polititical sub forum. But bc the site has slowed down there isn't as much posting as before. Which is why I remembered DU, was happy to find it still around, and joined ! 😁

Just read and post as much as you can to help you feel less isolated! 👍
