Beware the "despair" from our friends on the left. They are dangerous.

So, I'm seeing the lefty social mediaosphere go into despair mode over the recent "tightening" in the polls. The despair left is creating a narrative which gives people a license not to vote. This is what they did in 2016. It goes like this:

1. My candidate didn't win, so it's up to the DNC and the nominee to win me over which is really not possible because I can never be won over.

2. As the general campaign proceeds, start making social media posts as to how the DNC and the nominee are blowing it, and how Trump can win. If only the DNC and its nominee would "energize" the base which is again false premise because these people can never be energized by anyone other than their chosen candidate who is not in the race.

3. This leads to more and more despair, and thus gives people a reason not to vote.

This election is a national emergency. It's not up to the DNC or the Biden campaign to win it. It's up to us. If we show up, Trump is out. If we don't, we're over as a nation. There will be no fantasy lefty candidate riding to save America. We will be done and over.

No one gets a license for not voting. No one. If you don't vote, you don't give a shit about your fellow man.

Maybe we need to actually listen and not let it happen again.

That's one of the tells.

There are others, but I keep them to myself. All I'll say is: if your native language is not English, you* should note that in your profile.

* as in the general "you," not anyone specific.

(in 2016) in the military. And then I remembered -- it's a "poll" -- and 90% of those "3rd party/undecideds" really mean "I didn't vote."

Trump has alienated some of the military (an astonishing feat in and of itself) -- but fully expect most of these people will be back voting R in 2024.

I hide their posts immediately. Even if they're having a bad day, what's the point in dragging the rest of us down and hurting enthusiasm?

Too much concern about what is on social media, something akin to believing the CNN & MSNBC are actually doing journalism rather than infotainment.

We saw in 2016 how this despair can dampen turnout. Lower turnout is why Hillary lost.
