Maybe. If the bag was leak-proof and sealed well enough. Otherwise, you face the horror of the dry-cleaning bill...
Unless it was soup and a big old gold tureen in the bag, then it might both mess up your clothes and give you a bit of a bruise.

Oh, he meant bags of cans of soup...
