ETA: Think about it, a good way to get a population to become distrustful toward itself is to skew numbers showing there's a good reason to be skeptical of others. I think that's why we keep seeing higher than believable support for our despot in the WH.

22. Down here that kind of stuff (news) is not ever watched. TV is off of Netflix only during tornado

warnings and then to the local weather. My county has only 10,000 people. largest town is 1,200. 1 death and it seems that only the 20's -40's get "the flu".

They did hear that New York had a bad case of the "Chinese flu" earlier this year and Houston and south Texas is getting hit with the "Mexican flu".

Masks are worn in the food stores but hardly any where else.

1) Friends with strong ties to the South; 2) through college, children of wealthy people; 3) and raised in childhood, people who are very dependent on government/military jobs and contracts.

They are everywhere. Their indoctrination is strong and have been growing stronger, until this point where the Republicans may have hit a tipping point and have gone too far.

Meanwhile, the Democratic party has allowed itself to be whittled down. The most obvious way, people like my parents, career public servants that were expected to have high integrity and a sense of self-sacrifice, were lost by attrition. The requirements for those government and military jobs have changed.

Today, those who are democrats in government position are silent on social media, in order to keep their jobs. On the other hand, even minority friends who have government jobs, spread pro-Trump bullshit, because their entire job has been to ride out the hatefest, by showing they can hate their own kind, too.

You know who remembers what we once stood for as a country? If you're talking about groups, my money is on black, female Americans.

I am sorry to say, but despite their efforts to normalize our situation on social media, there are at least a dozen conservative-leaning friends that I will not make any effort to see again.
We have a huge problem.
