(7,843 posts)I wonder if the salon owner understands the concept of blowback...if not, she will and soon...as for the SF Chronicle...must have been a slow news day..nothing much going on in this upside down world..I can see why Nancy gets a haircut takes priority over a depraved sociopath "stroking out" over soup bombs

(90,641 posts)I was so upset at that thread I cant even tell you. I dont know why the disgust hit me so hard, but I felt my BP going up like a rocket.
How many DUers have just been waiting for an excuse? Especially the one who actually said Nancy leaving off a mask in a private setting was just like Trump eschewing masks in public?
Ratfuckery, and some people just cant hold themselves back to help bring down a fellow Dem.

(11,730 posts)This story is completely insignificant given what we face in this election, yet a guy known for throwing dirt at Democratic figures makes it a story so that right wingers can claim a false piety while they gather in mass without masks. Then to top it off, We as Democrats have to say how "bad" this looks and "she shouldn't have done it" and all that crap when Pelosi was just trusting the word of a business that she has a personal relationship with, that used that trust to score stupid points, that some of us here bought into.
We may have differences and we are a big tent so there will always be that tension about what we should do and avoid. This however was stupid and petty and shouldn't take up any time in our day. Yet here we are....
That is why the disgust hit you hard.

Nope... not gonna refer to them as 'chickenshit' in any meaningful way.

(10,200 posts)in the Bay Area opened FULL salon access, which includes coloring, shampooing, and blow-drying. I live in San Mateo County, and the salon I go to opened on Monday 8/31, under strict social distancing and sanitization protocols. I received a "come back to the salon on 8/31" invitation on Saturday 8/29. The idea that others in nearby counties might think salons would be open there, too, is not an unrealistic idea. It's possible that the person who told Rep Pelosi that she could come into the salon may have thought that the San Mateo salon protocol as of 8/31 applied in SF County as well.
This is really a mountain out of a f'n molehill. Not to mention that Skanky Vanky, Melanoma, and Eva "Kimberly" Peron all seem to have been getting their hair and injections done on a regular basis throughout the last 6 months. So I call bullshit on haranguing Rep Pelosi on this.

(81,443 posts)Nancy Pelosis San Francisco salon visit caught on camera, raises ire of business owner: No one else can go in, and I cant work
BY EMILY DERUY, THE MERCURY NEWS
ASSOCIATED PRESS | SEP 02, 2020 AT 11:24 AM
California guidelines on salons vary by county. While some San Francisco Bay Area counties have moved to allow salons to restart indoor operations, San Francisco is not one of them. And San Francisco did not permit even outdoor salon services until Tuesday.
According to Fox News, the owner of eSalon on Union Street said a stylist who rents space there contacted her Sunday to say Pelosi would be coming in the following day.
It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I cant work, salon owner Erica Kious told Fox News.
The salon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Mercury News.

(31,261 posts)so if the stylist was to get to that chair, she would have to notify the owner. If the owner asks who is the customer, the stylist would have to tell her that.
The owner is the problem. People should stop going there. Stylists will find other shops to work in.
she loses a lot of business. It does sound like a set up.

(10,270 posts)If I rent space somewhere to work, and that place is closed for business, how the hell am I supposed to get in there in the first place?
Unless this space-renter had her own building key (for some silly reason), it makes no sense that the business owner didnt APPROVE THIS the day before when she got the call...and approved it AS A SETUP.
This is not different than a stripper that rents a stage and the whole club is CLOSED. No way in HELL would the owner let that person work a private client/event there without explicit permission beforehand (and then pitch a fit about somebody else being able to work IN MY BUSINESS and the rest of us, cant?).
Nope not buying it. This is a roger stone level ratfucking and it should be called that at every opportunity.

My niece owns a very busy African American hair and nail salon, so styling techniques are different. But if Speaker Pelosi had shown up at her salon, she would not have been let in without a mask on, and my niece would not have gone to the press.

(7,367 posts)"CREEPY, VINDICTIVE and PETTY. This describes the owner, ERICA KIOUS. How lame and desperate do you have to be to invite a client in, and violate their privacy by selling video footage of them (wet hair and all) to a cheap cable news network? All for political reasons. Really?? All clients should be respected, regardless if you disagree with their politics or not. Completely unprofessional! Btw, Mrs. Pelosi DID have a mask around her neck, that she briefly pulled down after hair washing. But you chose to falsely "spin" it your way to satisfy your buddies over at Fox and Friends. Just shows your true character. If you care about your privacy, DO NOT go to this place."

(9,110 posts)I went to my salon for the first time in 6 months 2 weeks ago. Turns out they weren't outside as they should be. I should've walked out. I was in a separate room. And clearly they were being cautious. But I also noticed the floors haven't been really well cleaned in years.
I now believe I need to find a new salon. Frustrating as I've followed my hair stylist to 3 different salons.

(2,894 posts)Meanwhile, "My Kevin" McCarthy actually emailed the salon entrapment video to the media, even though he, HIMSELF, attended the final day of the Hatch Act Violation Convention with 1500 mostly unmasked attendees (including My Kev) practicing no social distancing... and even though he has ALSO told people to wear masks:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-congress-masks/wear-a-mask-republicans-split-with-trump-as-virus-cases-surge-idUSKBN24027P
<<The top Republican in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, said Americans should follow the recommendations of health officials to wear masks and socially distance themselves to help slow the spread of infection.
They should wear a mask, McCarthy told CNBC on Monday after his home state of California began to roll back efforts to reopen the economy.>>
Unlike My Kev, Speaker Pelosi had the mask around her neck as she moved with wet hair from one room to the other, indicating the lack of a mask was a temporary situation. Not to mention, this took place in a salon with no other customers, and the only other people (the stylist and her aide, I assume) were both wearing masks. It's shocking the owner would knowingly give permission for the stylist to provide hair care to the Speaker, and then release security video from that appointment when the Speaker was in an unguarded, vulnerable situation (I've never seen her in public with wet hair) and expected privacy. But... whatever.

(23,307 posts)and customers have to wear a mask when walking into the salon. They can remove the mask during the service but just wear it when they walk from the chair to the wash sink or the bathroom or out the door when they leave. Every city has different rules but wearing a mask during the actual haircut might not be required.
