Sounds like these are hypothetical questions. They may or may not actually pay a sampling of people to temporarily deactivate their account.

Regardless, this is market research, the point is to see how much people will pay to have vs. to not have their Facebook account.

The obvious reason is that they're thinking of charging people to have a Facebook account. They'll use the result of this survey to decide if people will pay $10/week or only $3/month or whatever.

In other words, say someone refuses to give up Facebook for $10/week but is willing to accept $15/week. That person is probably willing to *pay* $10/week to keep it (but not $15/week) if Facebook started charging a fee to use it.

Facebook has stated unequivocally mulitple times (every time a pay-for-facebook rumor surfaces), that they will NEVER charge users.

Of course, I take that with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure if they decide to pay-to-play, it will be a big announcement with lots of news coverage.

Might be worth a GoFundMe.

We could do stretch goals for Fox and Twit.
