I'll be honest, nothing about Trump's contempt for the military

surprised me. It fits with his previous statements and behavior. McCain, the Khans, his draft deferments, on and on.

Even the bit about not wanting the rain to spoil his coiffure was exactly what I surmised back when these events first transpired. I distinctly remember laughing about the story and telling my wife that very thing.

What it calls to mind is the last scene in "The Godfather II," when we saw the Corleone family around the dinner table talking about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Sonny showed disdain for service personnel.

"They're 'saps' because they risk their lives for strangers," he told Michael.

"Nah, that's Pop talking ... They risked their lives for their country," Michael said.

"Your country ain't your blood, you remember that," Sonny said.

Michael said he enlisted in the Marines. A shocked hush fell across the table.

"Why'd you do that?" Tom Hagen asked. "Pop had to pull a lot of strings to get you that deferment."

Sonny loses his temper and almost struck Michael. Tom Hagen mentioned Pop's "big plans" for Michael's future as if the military had spoiled them.

Sonny one last time called Michael "stupid."

Sounds mighty familiar, no?

and bugged out to North America, then had the gall to go back to Bavaria a couple decades later as if it never happened. Nothing says "Trump" like cheating plus gas-lighting.

But Bavaria kept the receipts. They knew he had skipped out, and didn't let him have his cake and eat it too.

I don't understand the ignorance of others on what a piece of garbage this guy is. Have they not watched the news since the 1980s, since his lying and selfishness drove the USFL into the ground?

He actually took it!

That was another signal that he doesn't care about their actual sacrifice, other than how it might affect him personally.

I felt sorry for the guy who offered it. I felt really sorry for him. Yeah, Trump actually took it.

That was really embarrassing. For all of us. He couldn’t put on a hat? I get that he’s not really a hat guy. His choice in the MAGAs and how he wears them makes that painfully obvious. A regular type hat?

Okay so his vanity wouldn’t let it happen. How he got there didn’t matter. He didn’t want to go. The “loser” thing was him trying to change the obvious reason. He also really speaks of people that way including naming Jr.

It sounds like someone with a substance problem who finds reasons not to be away from their comfortable turf. His drug is himself.
