...as is possible for a paid, Fox News shill.
Like MediaMatters, I watch Fox News so you don't have to. It's a propaganda network, so you expect them to spin everything in Trump's favour. But sometimes, when they do a WEAK job of spinning...it can be a HUGE tell.
So, today during Bill Hemmer Reports they first went to WH correspondent John Roberts, who toed the Party line about the Marine 1 helicopter not being able to FLY to Aisne-Marne cemetary, which then brought us to the question of why he didn't DRIVE to the cemetery. (They put John Kelly in the motorcade instead.) Roberts blathered for awhile, and then...with a CRINGE...finished by saying "and the President wasn't particularly keen, I'm told, to spend four hours in the car going out there and back...and ultimately the call was his." The camera then cut away from him as he stood with a hang-dog look on his face, which said a lot.
Wow. Roberts, a paid Trump shill, admitted that, AT BEST, Trump couldn't be bothered to go to the Aisne-Marne cemetery because spending four hours in a motorcade was asking too much. (Not too much for a golf trip, but too much to honour fallen heroes.)
Later they moved to their 'national security correspondent' Jennifer Griffin, who said that she'd asked "two, high ranking Pentagon sources who were on the trip to France" who confirmed the following details. (She also mentioned that her key source is a former Trump Administration official).
Per Griffin:
"Whenever Trump spoke about the Vietnam War, he said it was a stupid war, and anyone who went was a sucker."
"The President said of veterans 'what's in it for them? They don't make any money.'"
"The source said 'it was a character flaw of the President: he could not understand why someone would die for their country, not worth it."
Regarding the trip to the cemetery, "the President was in a bad mood. French President Macron had just said something that made him mad. He questioned why he had to go to TWO cemeteries. He said 'why do I have to do TWO?' His staff said he could cancel, but the Press would kill him for it."
"When asked about the possibility of him driving to Ainse-Marne, the source said there was no security reason why he couldn't drive. The president drives a lot. The other world leaders drove to the cemetery. He just didn't WANT to go."
"Regarding the planning of the President's 4th of July military parade, after seeing the Bastille Day parade, President Trump said, regarding the inclusion of wounded guys, quote 'that's not a good look. Americans don't like that.'"
"Regarding Senator McCain, according to this source, the President just HATED John McCain, and always asked 'why do you see him as a hero?' Two sources confirmed the President did not want the flags lowered after McCain died, but OTHERS in the White House ordered them lowered. There was a standoff, and then the President relented."
Wow. That's as close as you'll ever get to hearing a Fox News shill CONFIRM the entire Atlantic story.
