General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am filled with glee that Trump has been excoriated all day and all night
from every quarter -- even Fox News for god's sake -- for being such a disgusting degenerate loathsome POS. He has jumped the shark with his disrespect towards our military heros. He can't get out from under this one. No amount of lies or denials will be believed. He will go down in history as the worst ever POS to ever sit in the WH. With Trump, there is no bottom.
I simply don't know what else to say.

We have to vote to the place where all the corruption in the world won't take this election away from our country.

(3,784 posts)Apparently there was some mildly positive news about the economy today (I don't know what it was, I just heard someone on the radio saying that some new numbers came out today). The beauty of this story is that Trump was DYING to talk about this "great economic recovery" all day long, and he COULDN'T because this story drowned it all out.
THIS is how you beat him. You make everything about HIM. You make the election a referendum on HIM. When he tries to steer it another way, you bring it all back to HIM. And trust me, the guy is a political moron. If you bring up something about him, the narcissist won't be able to let it go. He'll keep tweeting out defenses of himself for days, causing the controversy to drag on days longer than it normally would have. That was the thing about Bush. Scandal after scandal would come out about him, and he wouldn't even talk about. He completely ignored it, and it went away within days. Nothing stuck to him. But Trump is incapable of letting anything go, especially if it's about him.
I also think Biden hit all the right notes in his speech, walking the tightrope between class/professionalism and anger/righteous indignation. It wouldn't surprise me if, when we see the new polls being taken over this weekend, we see a huge bounce for Biden. The military people I know (many of them Republicans) are PISSED.

Its something you just dont do.
Mocking the disabled? Seriously? What sane adult does that?

(16,342 posts)Disabled jokes were once a standup comedy staple. The disabled have been the butt of jokes in countless movies. Not at all unique to Trump.
Its a terrible thing obviously but theres no debate hes done and said far worse. Hes said and done things that have literally gotten people killed. Again, Im not saying its not awful but if I really sat down and tried to rank all the bad shit that would be on the list but nowhere near the top. The virus response would be No. 1, nothing else could be really. And What showed me he lacked humanity was the birther crusade and that happened before the reporter incident.
Bottom line: Hes a void as a human being for a million and one reasons.

(11,285 posts)but I actually don't think the full measure of the man's degeneracy was that well known (in the general public) until the campaign. And, given that such a large part of the public really doesn't pay any attention to either politics or campaigns .... And still -- a great many thought that his character and behavior would totally disqualify him for office in the eyes of the voting public. Wrong. And that was -- shocking to many. Here's one voter that honestly didn't think that many Americans would vote for a total scum-bag. I was wrong.

But I believe we have a ways to go until November 3rd. And remember: they are going to break laws to win because no one is stopping them from doing so.

2. Kellyanne Conway, the "President's Counselor" is gone. No more snarky responses, or in the alternative, watered down attempts.
3. About eight weeks until the General Election and a feeling that Trump might lose gives a sudden impression that criticism against him will not be addressed to the fullest punishment, if at all.
4. The chickens have come home to roost.
