Few Military Officers Willing to Defend Trump
September 5, 2020 at 7:25 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

New York Times: “The president privately raged about The Atlantic’s article on Friday morning, and advisers were panicked about how to counter it. They feared it was the beginning of a constant drip of negative stories from disenchanted former officials that could sway voters. While Mr. Trump demanded that allies knock down the article, aides recognized that few senior military officers were willing to openly defend the president.”

You wouldn’t believe the levels of racism I saw when I was in the Army. Granted, I got out nearly thirty years ago. But judging by what’s going on in the country in general today, I can’t imagine it has changed much.

When I served, during the Vietnam Era, there was a lot of racial tension in the service. I suspect that the racial disparity, has changed for the better with new generations serving. That said, I would be confident, without supporting evidence, in my belief that the ranks of the military are not statistically liberal; and that would go for the officer corps as well as the enlisted masses.

That said, I do not think that the masses of people serving our country will be unaffected by the Atlantic story. Nobody likes their boss to think that they are suckers and losers. Of course, many of the troops, as well as the general population, will deal with the bad news the same way that they have dealt with all other Trump related bad news. Denial and fake news is all of the rage on conservative forums at this time. I do believe, that if this story continues to develop, it will have serious consequences for Trump.

If Trump's 40% begin to believe that perhaps he is not the infallible messiah of truth and justice and the American way, then there will be hell to pay.

Poll shows military vote leaning away from Trump, toward Biden
In 2016, a Military Times Poll found Donald Trump leading Hillary Clinton by a roughly two-to-one margin. Four years later, it's a very different story.

They deny any information that conflicts with their preconceived notions. They have far too much emotional energy invested in Trump to admit that they have been duped. Nobody wants to be a sucker and a loser......

With a very simple premise that he is an incompetent ConMan liar and a cheat you can’t go far wrong. The only thing Trump has going for him is that he is a ConMan that has conned the American public. I don’t call him a con artist because then he would be able to con the complete country not just a hard-core 35% of imbecilic morons that still can’t see through him. The military tends to have mostly conservative voters but Trump has become so obvious that the military officers have seen through him buy and large and the enlisted people are starting to see through him too. Yes some of them hang out on the right wing sites and get all their information from that source, but when they start hearing him calling them losers and suckers eventually even they will start to see what a fraud this despicable person is.
