OOOOps duplicate: ignoreDemocrats Hold Secret Edge If Election Is Too Close to Call

Twenty years ago, as Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush battled for weeks over which one of them had won the U.S. presidential election, Florida’s Republican secretary of state, Katherine Harris, helped hand the White House to Bush by declaring an end to recounts that showed him clinging to the slimmest of leads.
If the outcome of this November’s election comes down to fights over counting mail-in ballots and claims of fraud by President Donald Trump, Democrat Joe Biden may have a quiet advantage: The top election officials in many of the key states that could decide the election are Democrats.

In Michigan and Pennsylvania -- two Democratic-leaning states Trump won in 2016 -- the top elections officials belong to Biden’s party. That’s also true in Arizona, which Trump carried but Biden is now leading in the polls, and Minnesota, which the president has targeted.

It seems to say election officials are necessarily partisan, citing Ken Blackwell of all people.

I hope all legal ballots are counted fairly, no matter what. I am optimistic that that will lead to a Biden victory.

This might not be a popular opinion here, but an accurate count resulting in a loss is better than a victory due to partisan interference. Not by much, though, since a loss could mean the death of the republic.

Yes, thankfully you are in the minority. The time of fairness and moral high ground is long past. We did that in 2016 and it's nearly killed our democracy. I say gut the fucking bastards. I don't give two shits what it takes.

Playing bare knuckles politics is and that's something we Democrats excelled at back in the day...until we started this "go high" business. I love Michelle Obama, but I disagree with that to my core. As someone said on a radio show some months ago, "when they go low, bury the fuckers." I couldn't agree more.

a kind of defeatism that all election officials are partisan; and since they quoted notorious cheater Ken Blackwell, seemed to be saying partisanship and therefore cheating / weighting is inevitable. That’s what I found depressing.

So I must have misunderstood your position. I thought because the article quoted cheaters that you were saying we should cheat. Bad assumption on my part. Sorry about that.

My state (Oregon) had a Republican SoS in 2017, and I expected because of that that he’s be a pushover. But he resisted the call from Kobach’s election integrity task force to release anything besides publicly available information. In other words, he followed the law, not the administration. He might have been the last honest Republican — but maybe not.

I am confident that when/if all ballots are counted fairly, Biden will win big. I don’t expect our side to lie down if there is something to challenge, though. Biden has supremely competent people around him, and they know what’s at stake.

Breaking the law to uphold rule of law is a slippery slope and I don't advocate that. What I do advocate is legally busting them in the chops in any way, shape or form, like this little gem from Oregon. "Your little propaganda statement? Oh...sorry. Didn't make it in time for the state voter pamphlet. Ooops. Too bad."

We need to get back to how Dems use to operate and stop playing Charlie Brown to their Lucy.

Gets us screwed because the fuckers that go low see our going high as permission to go even lower.

Going high to narcissistic gop is permission to be more criminal.

We need to kick the snot out of republicans to the point they fear breaking the law again.

With Dems in charge, we know those states will have an accurate count. No Republican cheating.

That's not what the article implies, of course.

If the secretary of state certifies it that’s the vote, period. They can file all the lawsuits they want, it’s not gonna stall the results.
