The base disbelieves the truth as it is repudiated by their lying leaders, and to believe the counter-story, many times simply flipping the script to make it appear that Democrats are the bad guys.

I spoke to an old colleague yesterday who has been brainwashed his entire adult life. There's absolutely no way to convince them that they've been duped and lied to and made fools of, as they think the same of me.
