Whatever anyone thinks of him overall, Howard is a BRILLIANT interviewer, and he always is able to extrapolate the interviewee down to their essence, WHATEVER they are, good or bad or otherwise, in said interview.

In the case of someone like Trump, he won't contradict them or attempt to correct them; if the situation calls for it, he just gives them the rope and leverage to hang themselves.

This example is a PERFECT one. Let him keep going deeper into his own depravity, to the point of admitting to MILLIONS of people that he used his position as "owner of the pageant" to just wander around backstage, especially while changing, because you're "in charge of inspecting things" and "so, I sort of get away with things like that".
