I think that Biden will have to go crazy on McConnell, McCarthy, Scalise and the post-Trump GOP.
Every morning, Trump rails against Pelosi, Schumer, Reid, Andrew Cuomo, Phil Murphy, athletes, NBA, baseball, etc.
Like it or not, Trump gets his message across.
Twitter is a 21st century communication tool.

(16,646 posts)The presidents account should be handled by the press office as part of a coordinated messaging strategy.

(9,653 posts)Most of the time tRump himself doesn't remember what he's previously said or tweeted, not to mention his press office. When they lie to cover for him, it results in a big, discombobulated mess that no one can pin down or keep track of.
If Biden decides to tweet occasionally, it should only be after the entire group is sure they're on the same page.

(16,646 posts)We've all had the "micromanager" and know how they often were their own worse enemy. Being president, or really in charge of any reasonably large population of workers, is not necessarily about being the "smartest guy in the room". It doesn't hurt of of course, but really it is about having smart people working for you. You end up "serving" them more than they "serve" you. Yes, you create a structure in which they work together. But then you let them do their work. One of the best managers I ever worked for ended every staff meeting with handing out assignments and then concluding with "how can I help". And he really meant it. For me, I learned to take advantage and was always creating a mental list of what assets I might need so I could immediately request them. Didn't mean I always got what I wanted, but it did create the realization on his part of the challenges I faced.
Literally every single thing that a president does, or has to deal with at all has some department or staffer that is responsible for handling. A president will make sure that they utilize those people to do those jobs and help them, not undermine them. Obama could write a pretty good speech, but he had speech writers and used them all the time. Authors have editors. Journalists have (had?) fact checkers. Manufacturing has quality departments. Engineers have their work checked by other engineers. It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a staff to run a country.

(37,748 posts)than wasting his time throwing tantrums.... he'll have a fully staffed communications office (quite conversant with the 21st century) focusing on his message.
You know... "Tough. Principled. No-nonsense" rather than weak, petulant and time-wasting.

(18,486 posts)Tweeting as a main form of presidential communication is childish, unhelpful and beneath the office.
If we wins, scaling back the tweeting is one of the ways Biden can try to restore some of the sanity and dignity of the presidency.

(54,268 posts)There are better ways to use available technology. For example, tape, sporadically, never at a predictable time, a quick message in front of a camera, several times a week. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, never demeaning unless subtly tearing into McTurtle with a double meaning so he can say, oh come on now, THATs not what I meant, and you know it. Thirty to ninety seconds. Released to the three majors, MSNBC, CNN, Fox but cut them off if they misuse them. Never at the same time twice. Never boring. Forego it if theres nothing to say. Zing em if there is. A video Z-gram, with apologies to Bud Zumwalt. Hell be remembered forever for it, and people will always be hungry for the next one.

(21,834 posts)I see nothing wrong with using Twitter . No problem with Biden and Harris sending out the occasional message via Twitter. Of course they would never go hog wild using it the way drumpf does.

(1,601 posts)One of the biggest headaches that the Trump administration faces on a regular basis is that there is no coordination of communication strategy. America gets Trump unfiltered, which his followers adore but which almost invariably means that his chief of staff or communications director has to follow him around with a metaphorical mop and bucket.
Most world leaders use Twitter with circumspection. Trump uses it for stream of consciousness recording, even saying things that he should never say - they have national security implications, they are admissions of criminal activity, they reflect poorly upon him and the office he occupies. They are the ramblings of a demented, senile god-man, and they are a psychological tool for gaslighting.
Just no.

(5,477 posts)and definitely NOT a series of incoherent, rambling tweets and retweets or random, unknown entities (real or bots) like the current resident of the WH.
There's really no need for a President Biden to follow the lead of this asshat.
