Not that her campaigning alone wins those states, but it forces Trump to spend more time in these states and less time in PA-WI-MI-OH. Joe should be more focused in these states and probably AZ.

This is the benefit of having an exciting choice for VP unlike Hillary's pick of Tim Kaine. A fine Senator, but he garnered 0 excitement.

(3,635 posts)We can't do rallies, so have her do interviews with the local TV stations which the local communities trust and rely on for info.
Alot of the narrative we see tends to center on small towns and rural areas - and we do need to prevent Trump from running up the margin in those areas.
But at the same time we need to realize most of our votes come from metro areas - cities (PoC, working class, immigrants, liberals) and suburbs (moderates, women, etc) and college towns (students).
We lost in 2016 because Hillary failed to drive up that vote, and Kaine (good guy, but boring) was useless with this.

(14,565 posts)I noted that in the early '90s. It was considered a solid red state but the ideology numbers suggested it was gettable. That doesn't hold true for North Carolina 43% and Georgia 42%.
Florida is never more than 35-36% in presidential years and should hold all emphasis. I have no idea why we are screwing around in other states without recognizing all margin for error revolves around Florida.
I understand partisans being pessimistic about close losses in Florida and wanting to detour elsewhere, but a national committee should be well beyond that and recognize the fundamentals.
I felt it in Nevada when the Democratic operation woke up. It was impossible not to feel it. Suddenly there was contact and energy everywhere. I haven't felt anything in Florida because we're still in neutral and hoping everything works out for the best. Granted, this is an exponentially more difficult state to fund and figure out.

(35,433 posts)Given rapidly demographic changes along with the rise of big tech in these states, they're becoming ripe for a Dem take over. GA's African American population (31%) is more than CA's (5.8%) and NY's (16%) African American population combined. NC's African American population is 21%.
The problem with FLA is that it has a highly reactionary Cuban population that once it hears "Socialist" it votes like Pavlov's dog. Also, it has a huge White working class demo in its panhandle.

(106 posts)She is critical to the country's future. Biden is a good guy, but let's face it, he's old. I am ten years younger and I am old. I couldn't imagine how physically taxing it would be to be out on the campaign trail, and I do yoga etc. five times a week.
Kamala is a college student by comparison. She's young and vibrant and SO much more exciting than Kaine.
GO KAMALA !!!!!!
