Trump running out of time to turn around 2020 campaign

Politico

The door isn’t closed on President Donald Trump’s reelection, but time is running short.

Labor Day once marked the start of concerted general-election campaigning, but it comes with a far greater sense of urgency this year for Trump. Because of coronavirus-related changes in election administration across the country, more Americans than ever are expected to cast their ballots early this year, whether by mail or in person.

And Trump, who didn’t get the election-changing convention bounce he hoped for, still trails Joe Biden by a significant margin among voters nationally — and by varying, but mostly smaller, gaps in many of the key battleground states. The latest updates to POLITICO’s Election Forecast point to a relatively stable political environment, and that's not what the president needs.

Even as turbulence pervades the news around politics, Biden is still staked to a lead and favored to win the presidency, as more than half a million absentee ballots were dropped in the mail last week in North Carolina and Minnesota prepares to open in-person early voting at the end of next week. Biden's edge is not overwhelming, though, given Trump’s advantages in the Electoral College.

Just another "Dems in Disarray story" by a "right wing rag". Nothing to see here.....

Dems ahead = "How will Dems will blow it?"

Dems behind = "Dems in disarray!"

Dems coming from behind and take lead = "Dems have a long way to go to catch up."

Repubs in any situation = "Listen to potential voters at a diner in (insert small rural town) and hear how Republican messages are resonating with average Americans."

voters will be going to Biden and democrats. The media sole purpose is to convince us this is a close election and I have zero issue with that as it benefits democrats just like in 2018

8. If this is a fair election, it's going to go our way for sure, but will it be fair?

If this election is fair, Biden will win in a landslide, we'll slightly expand our lead in the House, and the we'll will take back the Senate. However, what keeps me up at night are the issues related to mail-in votes. According to polls, far more of Biden's supporters are planning to vote by mail than Trump's, by like a 4 or 5 to 1 margin. Therefore, any problems with mail-in voting hurts us and helps the GOP. First, with Trump's sabotage of the postal service, I'm worried that not all the votes will reach their destination in time and will therefore be discounted. This would be catastrophic. Next, assuming they all do get there in time, we might have the problem of the "red mirage". Since most states will not be counting mail-in votes until after the in-person votes, and considering how much time it takes to process and count them, it will appear like Trump is winning in a landslide. We know him; he'll claim victory and demand they stop counting votes, which he would say are "fraudulent". His supporters would back him, and we'd be in a constitutional crisis. My distant third concern is that, even in normal elections, more mail-in votes are discounted than in-person votes, just due to the higher standards of verification. With so many more Dem votes and GOP votes coming by mail, that hurts us more as well.

Does anyone know what the Democratic party is doing, or even can do, about this? (I'm mostly worried about those first two concerns.)
