(22,011 posts)Is this because he thinks he already has those states in the bag, or because he knows he's already lost them?

He could be relying on the free advertising that he gets from the media. Remember he said that he was in 2016 when he ran low before their convention.

(4,845 posts)I don't know if I believe they are broke. I think Trump just wants another wave of donation to further funnel the money to himself.

If so, it's fixed, and he doesn't have to worry about it.

I think at least one of MN, WI, and MI are out of reach for them.
This election is all about NC. Whoever wins NC likely wins the entire thing.

(4,845 posts)If Biden gets PA, WI and he has a choice between MI, or AZ + NE2 or Maine2. None of those paths require NC.

Renew Deal
(81,847 posts)If Biden wins NC, Trump has to win All of FL, GA, MI, OH, and one of WI, MN, and AZ.
Realistically, MI looks really bad for Trump right now and MN and AZ aren't much better. If Biden gets NC, he only needs MI or 2 out of 3 of WI, MN, and AZ.
And if Biden wins FL, it is game over.

(7,286 posts)are they far ahead in those states and dont need ads?
are they far behind and have mailed it in?

is the fix in for voting there?

(10,972 posts)Those two haven't quite made toss-up yet, I don't think, they still lean R. But if he's still running ads in MN and WI, that says something. Surprised to see MI back in the ad column, I thought he pulled advertising there months ago.

(11,605 posts)Those states are looking a little more solid for him than they did a few weeks ago.
Pulling out of NV and NH makes sense also, because as we learned the hard way in 2016, it's usually a bad idea to try to expand a map without protecting the states your party previously won.
Pulling out of AZ and PA are curious moves. Arizona could mean he's giving up on it, like Obama did with a couple of the states he won in 2008 but didn't need for reelection in 2012. But Obama's 2008 electoral college margin was MUCH bigger than Trump's 2016 margin, so this seems risky.
I am really surprised about PA. That state looks closer than ever and sadly, after spending the weekend driving through the state to Western PA, I think Trump is definitely still competitive there. The areas we visited were pretty Republican, but given how unpopular he is in general I was surprised to see as many Trump signs as I did. The ratio of Trump:Biden signs I saw was at least 10:1, maybe even 15:1.
