Unfortunately, those thugs are the fossil fuel companies that both contribute to, and block any remedial efforts of, climate change.

(5,801 posts)There is a direct connection to the fossil fuel companies fighting remedy to climate change. They are big contributors to the problem in the first place.

(9,037 posts)It is very, very dark outside right now. Cameras are making it seem brighter. I couldn't figure out if it was AM or PM when I woke up. I walked to the post office, and it's basically like a very deep dusk at the moment. All the streetlights are on. It seriously feels like 8 or 9 pm when you go outside.
On the plus side, the air quality is pretty good on the ground. The reason it's so dark is because an inversion is holding all the smoke higher up at cloud level, while the offshore breeze is keeping things clean along the ground. I don't smell any smoke at all.
It's definitely ooky though. On the plus side, it saved us another day of heat. It was supposed to be in the 90s and 100s yesterday, but the smoke blocked enough sun so that it was pretty comfortable out. Now it's just cold.
I've lived here awhile, and I can honestly say I've never seen it this dark out when it's supposed to be broad daylight.
