Spent his time on 11th Hour trashing the Democratic Party.
Says Hillary Clinton lost because she didn't coddle coal miners' widdle fee-fees.
The problem is valuing education, making us an "elitist" society.
(Although Brian Williams, who I generally like, also joined in!)
But, he also expressed a condescending attitude by saying "those people" listen through their stomachs, not their ears!!
You have to reach them at the gut level. (Because they're stupid, I guess).

(27,794 posts)He definitely peeled away votes from Hillary on 2016. According to him, it's okay for Trump supporters to feel hate for us, because they think we look down on them, but people who.supported Hillary have no right to feel anger at how she (and we) were treated by people.who hate us.
What was most aggravating was his saying that he "likes people who listen". What about all the listening tours Hillary embarked on as both a Senator and candidate?
Doublespeak, to be sure. I was disappointed in Brian Williams too, and I also like him.

(25,376 posts)time she spent in Pennsylvania, all the plans she had for jobs. The effort she put into being a senator, as Al Franken described it: the "'Hillary Model'" which was "Be a workhorse, not a show horse. Go to all your hearings. Come early, stay late. Do your homework."
Her whole career was listening and doing. People are so stupid.

(26,044 posts)And I specifically point out his "Mid-East peace proposal" of shortly after the Iraq War, where he lamented that the Arab League would never have the guts to propose establishing full diplomatic relations with Israel in exchange for the latter returning to the "green line" border, because, if they were to be wise enough to adopt his proposal, Israel couldn't possibly say no.
So, they proposed exactly what he was suggesting. And Israel said no.
Granted, lots of people have made bold predictions and suggestions about that region that never panned out. But Friedman presented himself as the expert on the modern-day Middle East; it was an area where he allegedly had a greater understanding than practically anyone else. And, on "his" area, his boldest proposal fell absolutely flat. And that's pretty much been a pattern for him and his "insights" since then.

(13,087 posts)If someone hates me because I am informed, fuck them.
I don't have a college education.
The majority of my jobs were manufacturing.
None of these hard working Americans have worked harder than I have.
I am not a latte elite.
I have never been to a Starbucks.
I live in rural Ohio.
I am not on Facebook or Twitter.
I have made it a priority to be informed.
I have lost count of all the hearings I have watched.
I don't watch Fox "news" but I can name most of the people who
host shows on that channel.
I see clips of them telling lie after lie.
I watch Trump's press briefings so I can see the lies coming from his mouth.
I watch all the debates, Republican and Democratic.
Fuck them.
I do look down on them and they deserve it.
Fuck Trump and his cult.
you are right.

(25,376 posts)couldn't remember anything. Went back and read it again and couldn't find a point. Similar to '90s Pico Iyer books about how because there was a McDonald's in Nepal or whatever, globalism blah blah blah.
