Everyone who briefed Trump on the truth about Covid-19 last Jan/Feb/March could be accused

of withholding critical information from the American people also if we take that approach. They knew that Trump was lying to the public also. They theoretically could have resigned and gone public with the information and accused Trump of misleading the public with deadly results. Bob Woodward wasn't the only one who knew Trump wasn't being truthful about it. Others may not have had tapes of Trump but they had official positions of importance with access to inside information that potentially gave them credibility. Two or more of them could have backed each other up.

Why each of them didn't no doubt varies with the individual and the jobs they held inside Government under Trump. Many shades of gray, some darker than other, but Donald Trump was our only President, and he is the one who overtly lied to the people he had sworn to protect.

That if fact WAS my point. A lot of people are pointing fingers at Woodward for withholding his knowledge. I was pointing out that many knew first hand that Trump was lying. Each had their reason(s) for not openly accusing Trump of lying to the public at the time, but Trump was the one telling lies, and only he was President, and the buck, as you and I agree, stops with him.

how many GOP senators cashed out of the market anticipating the market tanking because of what they knew was coming our way?...and..Trump's prior knowledge in late winter didn't just magically land on his desk...it was researched and vetted and then presented to the moron...by whom and why didn't they shout it from the mountain?..

Trump lied and continues to lie to this day...the only calm he was concerned about was the Dow...this isn't on Woodward...question: are we so damn insecure that every time Trump and his minions vomit up a playground taunt.."I know I am but what are you (Woodward)" we go "omg..he's not wrong!"... Trump lied, people died...horrifying but simple

But he certainly doesn't have the excuse (good or bad, I'll leave it to the individual who employs it) that he owes his job to Donald Trump, has a couple of kids in college, or is uniquely situated to soldier on against the pandemic because of a career of service in public health.

If Woodward was self-evidently acting properly, he wouldn't have to explain or defend his actions. A firefighter doesn't have to justify pulling a victim from a burning building, you know?
