Study: Permanent teleworking would make homebuying an affordable option for nearly 2M renters

About 4.5% of renter households across the country could potentially buy homes outside their current metros if remote work continues after the pandemic.

A study by Zillow Group found nearly 2 million renter households across the country are working jobs that could be done remotely and are priced out of their city’s home-buying market.

The trend is more pronounced in Seattle, where real estate is expensive and many people work in industries that would allow them to work remotely.

“We have a lot of people working in work-from-home friendly occupations who still can't afford what we call a ‘starter home’ here in Seattle,” Zillow Economist Jeff Tucker said.

The top managers hate the idea of teleworking. They think if you work from home, you would be slacking off and be lazy.

I've been working remotely since 2010 because the company I work for is thousand of miles away. Matter of fact, I work longer hours at times because of time difference and different people keeping different schedules. But no, the upper management always think you are slacking off or they say they want to "improve efficiency". They want to keep you in the office so they can "see" you working.
