........On Wednesday, I learned that my dad died because of President Donald Trump’s silence. And on Wednesday, the world learned of Trump’s inexcusable failure to do his sworn duty to protect the American people.

Dad died on March 27. That put him somewhere around the 1,330th U.S. COVID fatality. At 84 and with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Dad fit the high-risk profile for mortality from this awful disease. Though I cannot be positive, he probably caught the coronavirus due to exposure in the airport in either New York or Madrid on March 14.

Had Trump warned the public about the true dangers of COVID-19, I would have made a different decision and canceled my parent’s trip to Spain. Instead of the Sagrada Familia and the Prado, they would have hunkered down in their one-bedroom apartment on the 16th floor of a 30-story high-rise in Dallas (a building in which there have been only two cases of the disease and zero deaths from it). Mom and Dad would be sitting beside each other drinking coffee and sharing newspapers. They would be reading their books and watching their shows. My dad would be bringing my mom supper on a little tray.

I guess it should not surprise me that Trump’s silence would kill my dad. But it did.

2. My Sincerest Condolences for Your Loss

So sorry for your loss... Unfortunately there are over 190,000 stories like yours. Below is the text I received from my Mother after she heard the revelations from Bob Woodward.

"All though in February I was convinced my two week pilgrimage to Israel, scheduled for March 1, with 40 others from our church would be cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, it was not. I was even more convinced our temperatures would be taken at every opportunity during the trip, it was not. NOT even upon return to the United States. I sat next to our Pastor on the last leg of our trip home - Toronto to Minneapolis, about three (3) hours in total. The next morning our Pastor went in to the ER as he had fever and body aches. He was tested and sent home and told to isolate. Several days later he returned to the ER, was hospitalized and died three weeks later. It was confirmed he had COVID-19. Within just a couple weeks of returning from our trip, six (6) others, including myself were sick with various symptoms. I went to the local Mayo Clinic office, but was not test for COVID-19, as my symptoms (i.e. fatigue, shortness of breath, and low-grade fever) were not severe enough to be tested due to limited test availability at that time. It has been five (5) months since that time and I still suffer shortness of breath and short-term memory loss, although I am improving gradually day-by-day. Now I hear that President Trump has been lying about the severity of pandemic since BEFORE our trip. I live in a rural red area, where the Trump supporters I know, many of whom are family members, dismiss my fatigue and memory loss, saying I'm making much ado about nothing. Our Pastor is dead, and six others got sick because Trump intentionally did NOT warn the citizens of the US, did NOT act... did NOT lead."
