where it has been being blown west, over the Pacific. Several sites in Bend, Oregon are reporting AQI's in the mid 500 range. One site north of Bend is showing a 750!
After the storms pushed out the smoke in S. Idaho this week, we've enjoyed some relatively clean air. That is supposed to change tomorrow and Sunday with anticipated worst case AQI's in the 200-300 range.

Stay inside and stay safe. We may get some rain next week.

(15,080 posts)The fire started on the north end of Ashland on Tuesday and blew north to Medford through Phoenix and Talent (which were decimated). There are also fires in Central Point and Eagle Point, so Medford is getting hit from both directions.
I couldn't even walk my dog this morning.

(11,447 posts)My dog doesn't even want to go, I couldn't get him to eat breakfast until after 2 and i fed him a bunch of chicken with his food. I am sure he smells the smoke but probably picking up on my anxiety and my hubby leaving today. He had a trip planned to his daughters he was going earlier in week then fire came so waited till today, she lives in bay area.
He said its bad all over and car filters on newer car 2019 not good enough, said he wouldn't go if he knew how bad.

(15,080 posts)My sister is in Chico and it's really bad there. Safe travels to your husband.
I would love to get out of here. I hear Switzerland is lovely this time of year.
Glad to hear you're ok though, Marlakay!

(86,524 posts)Thank for the warning though I have been expecting the return of smoke filled days and nights. We had a little respite that came with some chilly air and frost at night... took out some of the garden.
Soon as the wind changes, it's back to three-pack-a-day-like air quality.

(9,952 posts)under the smoke cloud. We could really use a breather. Sorry for the other side but hoping it is pushed hard and fast to start lessening.

(9,663 posts)We're somewhat used to hot, smoky summers, especially the last 10-15 years. The 200-300 range is bad enough. I can't imagine approaching 500+.

(9,952 posts)dog out I have to wash four paws with soapy warm water. He hates the water. Now he is starting to run away from me, lol.

(11,447 posts)I am not opening any outside doors unless dog has to go out. Pretty freaked out. It tends to settle in this valley once here until a big wind blows it away.

(9,952 posts)I bet it is bad there. Bad in Eugene, but in the mid 300s. Four days of it. It is not good.

(15,080 posts)So there's smoke all around. Both Central Point and Eagle Point are in flames.
Scary times.

(1,493 posts)the AQI charts have topped out at 500. I can even feel/smell it inside my house with the windows sealed shut. I've been outside for less than 5 minutes today tending to my chickens and could easily smell/feel it through my N95 mask.

(9,952 posts)I see how poorly my house is sealed and need some new windows and sliding glass doors.

(11,447 posts)My air is just as bad. Put out bowls of white vinegar around house and take a wet towel and shake it up and down all over house, it will absorb some of the smoke particles.
I googled things to do and read that not sure where.
It has worked I don't smell anymore and don't open door unless dog has to go out.
