EXCLUSIVE: Less than two months ahead of the presidential election with concerns of foreign interference again at the forefront a conservative political group is raising "serious concerns" about millions of donations reported by a major Democratic fundraising platform.
A preliminary computer analysis by the Take Back Action Fund, obtained exclusively by Fox News, has found that nearly half of all 2019 donations to ActBlue were made by people claiming to be unemployed.
Action Fund President John Pudner questioned the veracity of those donations and called it a loophole that must be closed for the sake of election integrity.
"After downloading hundreds of millions of [dollars in] donations to the Take Back Action Fund servers, we were shocked to see that almost half of the donations to ActBlue in 2019 claimed to be unemployed individuals," he said. "The name of employers must be disclosed when making political donations, but more than 4.7 million donations came from people who claimed they did not have an employer. Those 4.7 million donations totaled $346 million ActBlue raised and sent to liberal causes."

Comment: I think they are pissed that the retired and the unemployed still have a few dollars left.

(17,530 posts)benefits paid for my donations. If anyone has a personal agenda for supporting Democrats in the coming election it is the unemployed or retired.

(64,995 posts)In fact there are retired people for whom SocSec is extra money. Not a lot, but enough that 100 bucks here and there over 4 years could easily add up to a few hundred million.
We're among them. Neither of us is employed. My wife for 15 years, me for a couple.
Besides, I don't remember naming a company a requirement for political donations.

(14,490 posts)Considering Rethug demographics with legions of Poligrip Faux News fans, we can bet there are hundreds of millions in their coffers from the "unemployed."

(7,862 posts)I just sent a few dollars to Sara Gideon (Democrat running for Senate in Maine), Cal Cunningham (Democrat running for Senate in North Carolina), and Jaime Harrison (running for Senate in South Carolina).
I choose these three since I somewhat regularly donate to Biden (and he's been killing it at fundraising lately) and I believe Kelly (Democrat running for Senate in Arizona) and Hickenlooper (Democrat running for Senate in Colorado) are almost sure-bets to win their races.
Any other competitive Senate races that I should be looking at to potentially donate to in the future?

(7,862 posts)Probably because they seem to get little polling fanfare. How are they going, do you know? I know that Tester and Bullock are both relatively popular, but I know Montana is a traditionally red state...

(667 posts)I'm not too sure.
Tester's doing pretty well. Bullock is tied with Daines but has a chance.

(25,962 posts)the Repubs usually count on to put them on top in the dollar department. How dare the smaller voices among us speak more loudly through donations than they were expecting. Boo hoo.
eta - given the current unemployment rate right now, with millions out of a job, anyone in their right minds would expect high unemployment among small donors. Dummies.
