Steven,
Thanks so much for joining the team thats going to help me replace Mitch McConnell in the United States Senate.
First off, I want to let you know that we can win this: Weve pulled to a virtual tie in polling, weve closed the gap in fundraising, and were giving Mitch the biggest challenge hes seen in his 35-year career.
The bad news is, Mitch is already on the attackhes been on the air for months and has shown hes willing to lie about me and my positions. Ill be fighting back every step of the way. Can you make a donation today to help make sure voters know whats at stake in this election?
For some background: Mitch McConnell has been Kentuckys senator since I was 9 years old. During his more than three decades in office, hes been an unabashed career politicianputting D.C. lobbyists, special-interest allies, and his own political career ahead of our country, our Constitution, and the needs of Kentuckians.
Along the way, hes turned Washington into something we all despise. And the partisan games hes played this yearwhile our nation has been gutted by the medical and economic impacts of the coronavirushave proven again how urgently Mitch needs to go.
I will be a different kind of senator. I graduated from the Naval Academy, fought hard for the opportunity to fly fighter jets, and served 20 years in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, where I flew 89 combat missions and became the first woman in the Marine Corps to fly in an F/A-18 in combat. After retiring from the Marines, Im ready to serve our country again.
If elected, I plan to bring back some basic values I learned as a Marine and a mom: Put people first. Accomplish the mission. Always put our countrys interests over partisan politics, no matter what.
Our leaders need to learn to work together again. Thats what we do at our own kitchen tablemy husband, Erik, a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran, is a lifelong Republican. The oaths we took were to our Constitution, not a political party.
As Kentuckys next U.S. senator, I plan to be a leader who is ready to work with anyone to solve our problems, and ready to stand up to anyone who gets in the wayno matter their party.
Heres the thing: we all know this is going to be a hard race. Mitch McConnell has over $15 million in the bankand that doesnt count the special interests already spending big to keep their guy in power.
Im not afraid of Mitch McConnell and his deep-pocketed friends because we have proven that grassroots campaigns work. With you on my side, I know we can win this.
Make a donation of any amount to fund our campaignand lets show the world that we have a team that can defeat Mitch McConnell and restore moral leadership in Washington.
Defeat Mitch. Defend democracy.
Let's go,
Amy

I want her to focus on how McConnell and his wife have personally gained themselves while denying things to people in Kentucky.

We have these two extraordinary women going up against the most powerful men in the US Senate; knocking those two horrid men down changes the power structure in the Senate in a really big way

(4,980 posts)Been giving, and will give more. On days when mcconnell really hacks me off, I drop in a little more. Helps that I rather like Amy McGrath as a candidate. If youve been waiting for the right time to give to those races outside your area, this is it. This is the time.

(34 posts)Wanted to share what's going on, on the ground in KY. McGrath is working hard. I have already received three phone calls from the McGrath campaign asking for help and our vote. The great thing about it is that the people who are calling are locals -- not calling from a centralized phone bank out of state or out of Lexington/Louisville.
I have had two yard signs brought to my door and planted in the ground. You can well imagine McGrath signs well outnumber McConnell -- by far. mcConnell has no presence in my Eastern Ky. town.
McGrath is flying her own plane across KY to meet people. The day she was in my small town, she had already been to one other city and was scheduled for a third in one day. Because she is prohibited from large gatherings because of Covid, this method of campaigning looks to one advantage she has over Mitch.
Of course, she is blanketing the airwaves and multiple platforms with her advertisements.
So if someone is going to beat Mitch, you all and the other donaters are providing her with the means to get her message to the people.
It will be a tough win, but I am beginning to have some hope because of the way the campaign is working so aggressively.
Ditch Mitch
