If youve used a dating app, youll know the importance of choosing good profile pics.
These photos dont just relay attractiveness; a recent study suggested that 43% of people think they can get a sense of someones personality by their picture. You might guess that someone who has included a photo of themselves hiking is an outdoorsy type of person.
But as scientists who study human-animal interactions, we wanted to know what this meant for pet owners in particular, male cat owners.
If youre a guy who owns a cat, what kind of effect does it have on suitors if you post a picture posing with your favorite feline?

(102,234 posts)Never trust someone who doesn't like animals. And if they show it by keeping pets, all the better.

(16,377 posts)I would look at a guy holding a cat as much more likely to like women and not feel threatened by them. It would be a definite plus for me.

Hypothetically.

(9,444 posts)Cats are awesome. Therefore how can a man be judged negatively just because he has a cat? I've known several men who had cats, only cats. They were every bit as masculine as men who don't have cats. Some men want animals and due to their life circumstances cats work better than dogs. Cats are much less needy. For instance a cat can be left home alone when a short trip out of town is necessary. Or maybe, they just prefer cats to dogs. So what? Personally I love both cats and dogs. As a woman, I think that a woman who finds a cat owning man to be less masculine or desirable says more about her than it does about the man who has a cat.

Men who like cats tell me that they don't have a problem with how they are perceived and are secure with themselves.
I'm so tired of the cat/dog wars. I like animals, I like people who like animals (if you have a dog, great!, if you have a cat, great!).
If you are a hunter - boooooooooooooo.
