Like an Experimental Concentration Camp: Whistleblower Complaint Alleges Mass Hysterectomies at ICE Detention Center
https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/like-an-experimental-concentration-camp-whistleblower-complaint-alleges-mass-hysterectomies-at-ice-detention-center/
Several legal advocacy groups on Monday filed a whistleblower complaint on behalf of a nurse at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center documenting jarring medical neglect within the facility, including a refusal to test detainees for the novel coronavirus and an exorbitant rate of hysterectomies being performed on immigrant women.
The nurse, Dawn Wooten, was employed at the Irwin County Detention Center (ICDC) in Georgia, which is operated by LaSalle Corrections, a private prison company. The complaint was filed with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by advocacy groups Project South, Georgia Detention Watch, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, and South Georgia Immigrant Support Network.
Multiple women came forward to tell Project South about what they perceived to be the inordinate rate at which women in ICDC were subjected to hysterectomies a surgical operation in which all or part of the uterus is removed. Additionally, many of the immigrant women who underwent the procedure were reportedly confused when asked to explain why they had the surgery, with one detainee likening their treatment to prisoners in concentration camps.
Recently, a detained immigrant told Project South that she talked to five different women detained at ICDC between October and December 2019 who had a hysterectomy done, the complaint stated. When she talked to them about the surgery, the women reacted confused when explaining why they had one done. The woman told Project South that it was as though the women were trying to tell themselves its going to be OK.

What have we become? I just can't anymore.

I just sit here shaking my head. No. This can't be happening. This is truly an international crime. No wonder trump is slamming the ICC.

This is eugenics and Tuskegee experiments type stuff. The things Hitler took inspiration from and expanded upon.
Ugly beasts that had been driven into a cave and contained. Republicans were just swell with setting it loose again. Just as they were with torture.
Don't think it's "Trumpism."
Ask the people of Central America as well

(90,758 posts)Then there's the ugly history of eugenics and forced sterilization in America.
Telling yourself you're better than that doesn't make you better than that. Just gives you the feel-good moment you need to mitigate what's happening and how you feel about it until the next time.
To be better you actually have to act better. You have to put in the work to get better. That does sometime include putting people in prison regardless of their title.

(4,514 posts)But as a retired OR nurse, let me mention that even a hack needs @30 min to cut out a uterus. Burning the tubes, which accomplishes the same thing takes 5 minutes, costs considerably less, can be performed by a med school student and recovery time is days, not weeks. Also no mention of forced vasectomies? They take even less time and require no general anesthesia, one less person in the loop to testify later. It sure AF requires and investigation by an outside team.

(16,835 posts)something other than preventing pregnancies. Female sterilization would be more important than sterilizing males if the goal is population reduction. Females are more special k than males in nature and society. That's because women's productivity is very limited and men's is practically endless. Killing several men can be made up for by increasing the burden on one man. Killing several women can cause a real strain on a group's population.
So you would want to focus on taking out the women if committing a genocide, but to be most effective, you would want to take them out quickly and quietly. That make burning tubes your best option. A hysterectomy, as you have explained, would best be avoided. A hysterectomy would be done if, however, other procedures had been done on the uterus or the ovaries and those tissues would need to be taken out in order to remove evidence.

The detained immigrants get no medical care for themselves or their children, very little in the way of food, clothing or shelter. But they get STERILIZED without their knowledge or assent? What the actual fuck?
