"Why do people continue supporting Trump no matter what he does?"

Found on Facebook

By Betsy McCall Matusicky
I just read this on a friend’s page.
The question was posed, "Why do people continue supporting Trump no matter what he does?"
A lady named Bev answered it this way:

“You all don't get it. I live in Trump country, in the Ozarks in southern Missouri, one of the last places where the KKK still has a relatively strong established presence. They don't give a shit what he does. He's just something to rally around and hate liberals, that's it, period. He absolutely realizes that and plays it up. They love it. He knows they love it. The fact that people act like it's anything other than that proves to them that liberals are idiots, all the more reason for high fives all around.

If you keep getting caught up in "why do they not realize this problem" and "how can they still back Trump after this scandal," then you do not understand what the underlying motivating factor of his support is. It's fuck liberals, that's pretty much it.

Have you noticed he can do pretty much anything imaginable, and they'll explain some way that rationalizes it that makes zero logical sense? Because they're not even keeping track of any coherent narrative, it's irrelevant. Fuck liberals is the only relevant thing. Trust me; I know firsthand what I'm talking about.

That's why they just laugh at it all because you all don't even realize they truly don't give a fuck about whatever the conversation is about. It's just a side mission story that doesn't matter anyway. That's all just trivial details - the economy, health care, whatever. Fuck liberals.

Look at the issue with not wearing the masks. I can tell you what that's about. It's about exposing fear. They're playing chicken with nature, and whoever flinches just moved down their internal pecking order, one step closer to being a liberal.

You've got to understand the one core value that they hold above all others is hatred for what they consider weakness because that's what they believe strength is, hatred of weakness. And I mean passionate, sadistic hatred. And I'm not exaggerating. Believe me. Sadistic, passionate hatred, and that's what proves they're strong, their passionate hatred for weakness. Sometimes they will lump vulnerability in with weakness. They do that because people tend to start humbling themselves when they're in some compromising or overwhelming circumstance, and to them, that's an obvious sign of weakness.

Kindness = weakness. Honesty = weakness. Compromise = weakness.

They consider their very existence to be superior in every way to anyone who doesn't hate weakness as much as they do. They consider liberals to be weak people that are inferior, almost a different species, and the fact that liberals are so weak is why they have to unite in large numbers, which they find disgusting, but it's that disgust that is a true expression of their natural superiority.
Go ahead and try to have a logical, rational conversation with them. Just keep in mind what I said here and be forewarned.”

This describes a good portion of his die-hard fans IMHO.

The BASE is base, but then there is a whole bunch of mis-information.

20,000 lies and counting.

People I have known and respected for a lot of my life being told he is so wonderful. He donates his Presidental salary. He's not making any money and people still are attacking him.

HOW is it attack when you simply tell the truth? Put his own words out there to show that he is talking out of both sides of his mouth and arse at the same time?

Trump is pretty much a semi-divine figure to them, sent by God to save America from the godless communists (read: Democrats). As such, to them it is essentially blasphemy to criticize him, or even to question anything he does or says.

His core base are stupid and mediocre - but they're white. And in America the mediocre white man could get by nicely for 200+ years on white supremacy and institutional racism.

With the election of the first black president, the nomination of the first woman presidential candidate (who did win more votes), MeToo movement, BLM movement etc - these medicore white guys (and gals) are terrified of what it means. For the first time in American history they will look in the mirror and the reflection they see won't be 'the face of America'. Their flocking to Trump and Trumpism is basically a big tantrum.

There are a variety of explanations, but the best one which I recently
heard on NPR was that they just want to "poke Liberals in the eye"
even if it means calamity, chaos, dysfunction, etc. -- if it pisses off
Dems, they applaud it no matter how vile or detestable the act may be.

This is payback for the "Liberal Elites" (college educated, higher economic
status, intellectuals from the blue states) for treating them with contempt
over the years. It is a great big F U and Ha Ha to the Dems, especially after
we dared to elect a black man as president. They are not interested in
progress or success, per se. They just want to give us the finger (while
screwing themselves)

Ask 99% of those who claim to be “pro-life” if they are vegetarians (they aren’t). Then ask them if they support abolishing the death penalty (they don’t).

The “pro-life” label is as phony as the rest of Republican false advertising. They are for taking away a woman’s right to abort her pregnancy, period. “Anti-choice” would be accurate. “Pro-life” is not.

9. They've been brainwashed by RW Media to hate liberals

Sep 2020

They’ve learned to see people like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other charismatic RWers as friends and on their side, and against those “wine and cheese liberals who hate god and liberty.”

They are pretty much victims of a long running massive con artist operation by the Republican Party. Con artist victims can be so far gone that they can continue to support and even defend the con artist despite all the evidence shown that they have been conned.

or they lose membership as the people go find another church that agrees with them. The laypeople are driving this, it way too widespread in American Christianity to try to lay it on some con artist preachers. The majority of Christian voters cast their ballots for Trump in 2016. This is who they are.

("They support him for the same reason they have always supported him. They like his bigotry&quot

This, a thousand times this. I live among them here in Alabama and sadly the only evolution that many of the people here have undergone since they were sicking dogs on black people and spraying them with fire hoses in the sixties is to be less overt with their racism. Don't say the N word with a camera pointed at you. Give some cover bullshit reason for why you hate someone so much. For example you really think they hated Obama because they actually believed he wasn't an American citizen? Shit. They hated him because he was black. But they realize you can't admit that anymore. I would hear them say he was the most racially divisive president ever. But when I pressed them for specifics it basically boiled down to him having the audacity to be black and president at the same time.

Trump is the most openly racist president we have had since we have had electricity. Make no mistake. They don't tolerate him in spite of that fact. They love him precisely because of it.

Thus the reason I wanted out sooo bad. I was concerned weak for my values. My family, save for my mother, thought I was a usable push over.

Thanks to my DU family, I was able to keep my head and get out of there. I might still be having it a bit rough but no one can or will look at me like that again.

I will never go back there. The culture pulls people down if they are not like the collective of the whole that seems to strive on the hate talked about about.

I can't understand such hate and can not be apart of it.

I used to be idealistic and had more faith in this country. But I've grown pretty cynical and jaded over the years. That's why Canada sounds so appealing to me. I hate what this country has turned into. I'm an old hippie who thought we were heading in the right direction. But the Republicans and billionaires have hijacked the country. And the middle class is just fine with it. So sad.
