The other side of COVID

We read and hear of multiple instances of MAGAts, anti-vaccers, etc. who don't believe in masks. They don't work. There is no Virus.
Etc.

My friend is a musician and can't make any money as long as venues are closed. He's bright and could pursue even a part time position doing something else. But he is resistant. He's paralyzed by fear that even with protection (e.g., masks, etc.), he'll catch COVID. I suggested outdoors venues such as lawn & garden centers, etc. He won't discuss it. You can catch COVID. It goes into your body through your eyes. Stuff like that.

In the meantime, he's broke. Out of money. Bills still coming in.

He just refuses to consider leaving his house.

And no, he can't type.

traffic. I can type.

I am not going into a mass of people even with a mask for a 9 hour shift with no ventilation. Why would I? Why would I isolate for months only to say now, meh... Might as well go out into the masses for hours a day?

My friend doesn't want to go into supermarkets to work.

There's being careful and then there's being hypervigilant.

All he's been trained to do is to perform music.

Nobody wants to send their child for instrument tutoring either.

Supermarkets aren't exactly protecting their employees. My son towers over the sneeze guards they put up for the cashiers. He is a really big guy and they tried to use him as a bouncer for people not wearing masks. The customers are as big if not a bigger problem.
