Alabamians and Florida Panhandle folks: Please check in

I have family along the Mississippi coast and so far they aren’t having too many issues.

How is Mobile faring?

I’m in New Orleans and haven’t had a drop of rain. It’s breezy and overcast. Lake Pontchartrain is up about a foot on the south side. New Orleans East and the Venice area are seeing some storm surge, but not too bad yet.

Please stay safe, folks.

(In Pensacola)

Ready for the main event. Plants are inside. Drizzly and windy right now, landfall expected later today.

As a child I enjoyed many happy fishing trips to Apalachicola.

Wishing you safe harbor through the storm.

I swear, this thing is drunk.

When Isaac hit in 2012, it was the slowest damn storm I had ever experienced at 5 mph. Sally makes Isaac look like a speed demon.

I lost my roof and had interior damage due to Isaac because it stayed around so long and just dumped precipitation.

Continuous drizzly rain with bursts of down pours. Relative calm winds interspersed with a gale. It will not be a fit night out for man nor beast!

I went through IVAN in 2004 in the same city, same house. This is nothing like that, however, the amount of rain we’ve gotten, with more to come, could be a problem. We had 24” inches a few years ago that caused part of Scenic Hwy. (Highway 90) to collapse. A huge, gapping hole. Plus, the ground is now soaked so trees could fall or get pushed over if the winds pick up. Tornado watch until dark.

Not to jinx things, but our electricity has remained steady.

I am near the Apalachicola river, and I am predicted it to get wet, very very wet. So far the prediction looks accurate.

EDIT": Ten minutes later, I just got a flash flood watch on my phone. Yep, very wet.
