Why did it take pressure from ACLU? The county is run by Democrats. Hoyt Sep 2020 #4
I don't know, but a fair question. BeckyDem Sep 2020 #6
Agree. More boxes will be good. Hoyt Sep 2020 #7
Maybe the decision was made by someone Mr.Bill Sep 2020 #8
Nope, it's a county function. Hoyt Sep 2020 #9
But wouldn't they have to follow orders from Mr.Bill Sep 2020 #10
I believe that you are making excuses for them. Blue_true Sep 2020 #12
No, that is not my intention. Mr.Bill Sep 2020 #14
Not on ballot boxes, polling locations, etc. That's a county function. Hoyt Sep 2020 #13

Though opponents say ballots could be stolen or vandalized in unsecured drop boxes, Merrill said she’s seen no evidence of fraud, tampering or vandalism.

“The clerks empty these things a couple of times a day, actually, and they usually are in very prominent places,” Merrill said. “It would be really difficult to vandalize one of these boxes.”

“They’re bolted to the ground. I mean, it’s really quite a secure system.”

In 2018 the MAGABomber unintentionally impacted, and I argue, likely changed the outcome of elections in Florida. Who is to say that MAGATS won’t remember that and purposely start fires in drop boxes that serve minority and other blue areas?

People need to get it in their heads that Trump, DeJoy and General MAGATS are not going to make it easy for us, we should expect to go to extremes that we have not had to in the past. What extremes? Masking and PPE up and go in to vote in person, early voting EVEN IF republicans make that difficult for big blue counties, walk a finished mail-in ballot into the elections office, identify oneself as the voter for the ballot and stand there until it is stamped as accepted.

Democratic officials KNOW what is at stake. They should have been agitating for boxes before the ALCU sued.

I'm sure the SoS could step in if there were not enough polling places, ballot drop boxes, etc. But the GOPer in Georgia isn't going to care about any of that stuff.
