...but the headline itself is rather misleading. The "officially broke" refers to the organization he used to make donations. He and his wife do still have $2 million (out of the $8 billion he originally amassed) for their retirement. While I'm far from suggesting that giving away 99.975% of your wealth is insufficient, and also recognize that they seem to live extraordinarily frugal lives regardless, the headline makes it seem as if he's now headed for the steam grate for the rest of his life. Fortunately, that's not the case.
