Yes, that's what the weather report calls it. At least this smoke plume is too high to do any damage (or so they say). My heart goes out to every climate change realist and all of the innocent victims of the deniers, who have this plume showering down on their lives. The deniers can just suck it up. Literally.

Sorry - my crankiness is exponentially ramping up.

2. Over in the "red zone"...

It looks much worse. We have health warnings regarding outdoor activity. Venus was a little red dot until it was too light to see it, the sun is a red sphere and you can't see the mountains lining the valley. Visibility is <1/2 mile.

If it's showing up on this side of the country, how much worse can this get for the other side? I have some good friends in California and they've been sharing terrifying photos of the air.

This is one of those days when I wonder how many of us will actually make it to November 3.

4. It's very disturbing.

I'm in western Montana where we have a couple fires but affecting the air quality in my area. This is from the western states, we always get their smoke here several hundred miles away. If it's burning west of here, we end p getting at least some of it. Now that the sun is up, the sunlight through the windows is orange... this is a moderate condition compared to west of here in the purple zones.

My eyes are red, throat raw. I can only go work in the garden in spurts.

5. Working on two weeks of being smothered by this cloud of smoke. Between this and 6 months of covid

the world sure looks different now. Can't even open windows for fresh air. Two weeks of keeping the outside air, out.
