I will admit, I dont know much about Constables or their roles/responsibilities....I looked them up and the kind of seem like police officers...,anyway I was just driving and noticed one who was driving what looked like a police car, the only difference is that it said Constable and not police.....the truck had a Trump/Pence sticker....that doesnt seem right

(4,390 posts)Must be from a pretty affluent precinct to have one's own LE vehicle...IDK, never been to TX and no motivation to add it to the bucket list. As for the sticker, there are "useful idiots" everywhere that think IOIYAR.

One of the two stickers on that vehicle needs to go. Not sure which without more facts.

(25,258 posts)Who is your commissioner? Or constable?
Contact your county commissioner
As a matter of fact I wanna know. I have people who will contact for you. I'm also local.
All of our County Commissioners are Democrats, except for Precinct 3. Even then, Precinct 3 is a moderate
If that doesn't work, contact another commissioner or Nelson Wolff

(24,366 posts)I dont think it violates any provision of the Hatch Act.
That law pertains primarily to federal employees or state officials who are paid with federal dollars.

(70,683 posts)It's like, military NOT to mix with politics.
Contractors for government business, NOT mix with politics. This constable is a public employee, NOT mix with politics.
At my long ago employment we had a co-employee who (outside work) operated a business of his own. We used our personal vehicles for our work. He had bumper stickers advertising his business on his vehicle. One might think, well it was his personal vehicle. No, but he was making contact/travel visits with his personal advertising, making for confusion as to giving the impression that his personal company was delivering services from our employer.
There are scads of home nursing companies that have contracts with State agencies. Many have their company name/logo on them, fine. But having a POLITICAL bumpersticker, no-no!

(42,551 posts)But if a wingnut got himself elected hed probably sneer at anyone who said anything. You could report it to the county judges office. But if the judge is a wingnut too it might not accomplish anything.

(51,308 posts)I worked there part-time and even in the break room, there were "I Love Jesus" signs and so on.
I'm not religious in the least, but this kind of thing doesn't bother me - except for the fact they can get away with doing that.
Red county, so there you are.

(42,551 posts)But yeah, right wingers love to milk the In God We Trust. If its the national motto, we can sure have it on our Crown Victorias!
It probably varies by location, but the two local government offices Ive worked in were in red areas and they would not have allowed something overtly religious in a shared break area.

I agree with you about political stickers, and haven't seen any of those except back in 18, I saw one on a city cop car.
